Growing up, I watched a program of James Randi challenging (debunking) all kinds of woo. (This became one of the foundations stones of my nescient skepticism.) At one point, he tested a Russian psychic who energized water that was curing all kinds of ails. When he attempted to do the blind test (ID the real energized bottle of water), suddenly all of the water was energized by his presence, not just through his mystical handwaving. So the test couldn't be conducted. The goal was to sell this water on the American market. I thought that no one would be that stupid. Fool me!

Definitely feel for Cara. My dog got geriatric vestibular disease at 14 as well and it was absolutely frightening when it happened. He was better after two weeks, but he retained the head tilt for the next 2 years, and only recently passed away while he was recovering from a fall. But he was a long legged, 22kg, border collie, so his center of mass was quite high up. From what I understand smaller dogs deal better with any ongoing balance issues. Here's hoping Killer lives a long and awesome life :)

Regarding Cara's comment about people at the end of their lives and their concerns about their pets, I have volunteered with a rescue group for almost two decades and they take in many animals from those situations as a way of helping these people at the end of their lives.

To me, Egyptian pyramids are so impressive because, in my mind, they are a lot older than, say, Colosseum. So, in my mind, the Romans had a lot simpler time building it because they lived later and therefore had better technology. I guess it's the issue of my school history books, or maybe there's some other reason why the pyramids seem a lot older to me. Most likely, I'm not alone in this, so every person who can't believe that the Egyptians built the pyramids may have different reasons. But I'm not arguing that some of those reasons are racist. And maybe the way the history books are written is also racist, I dunno.

Not only in Russian, but also in German an I guess in a lot more languages. That's why it's useful to know many languages.

In Russian we call pineapples «ананас» (pronounced ananas).
