Re: Robocall It might be availability bias, but it seems like a lot of underhanded tactic (as opposed to the normal methods) to disenfranchise voters are perpetuated by republicans: deep fake robocalls fake ballot drop boxes in CA deep fake political videos

I wonder if the upper limit of atmospheric oxygen was considered. Does an excessive amount of oxygen result in unstable environments from forest fires?

The obvious other counterargument to the "without faith there would be rape and pillaging": And no religious person ever rapes or pillages?

Steve was saying that the speed of light would limit how long it would take superheroes to get to the moon. Oh no, not 1.3 seconds. That's just way too long.

Yes, you can get a "jail sentence". In Florida, it's commonly called "county time" and yes, there is a difference between jail and prison and incarceration and detention. It's not pedantry when the words make a difference. 😁 Also, listening more, if you get less than a year from a federal court, you still go to "prison"... there is no federal "jail"...

I lost over 50 pounds because of skeptical thinking, mostly from realizing that I was eating much faster than I needed to. That would be an example of education leading to longer lifespans.

Ted Apelt

Its more than that. Without oxygen in the atmosphere metabolism is very limited, and it is unlikely that anything smart enough to use technology of any kind would evolve at all.

Re: Oxygen bottleneck. Without fire, not only would we have no metal, we'd have no pottery, no glass... 😳

Re: Deep fake robocall. Robocall problems stem from the insistence that people insisted that when Caller ID was being instituted, callers be given the right to keep their anonymity protected. Safeguards were built into the software to prevent anyone from tracing a call, even if that call is a crime. With a bit of a tweak ,the origin of any call could be traced with a search warrant. Unfortunately that would require trust in police and judges... 🫀
