Ok, so maths nerd coming out in me. Some primes are interesting in and of themselves beyond being prime. Cool. Some are not, Emirp's being among them. Because whether you represent them in OCTAL, DECIMAL, or just lines in the sand, it doesn't change their fundamental properties of interesting beyond trivial prime-ness or not.

Example: In OCTAL 15 and 51 are both prime whereas those numbers in DECIMAL are not. To save you the conversion, 15 (OCTAL) = 13 (DECIMAL) and 51 (OCTAL) = 41 (DECIMAL).

In terms of EMIRP's, I would suspect they are not overly interesting mathematically. More likely just an artifact of using a decimal, as opposed to binary, octal, hex or what have you, base.
Cryptography wise, yeah, big primes are very very useful, but no particular use for EMIRP's as opposed to any others.
