For another take on this, read After the Galaxy: The Unsung by Scott Bartlett. The book exists in both the computer generated world and "real life" They seem to do a good job of making both worlds important.

And an explanation that one might give a sweetheart the gift of a mathematical theorem. “An original one?” “If you’re serious.” (paraphrased, etc.)
