Over the years, I've learned to judge an artist more by his range than by his target audience. As you might recall, "Sing" became a big hit for the late Karen Carpenter. Moreover, Raposo also scored THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER...which featured (among others) "Happiness Hotel", one of the more-memorable country/western tunes I've heard in my day. There are people who will always find something to make fun of, somewhere, for some reason...and a handful of those people, however surprisingly, make quite a good living at it. That's why I eagerly look forward to ELMO SAVES CHRISTMAS getting riffed here on MUSICAL HELL. That, and/or a review (read: roast) of FOLLOW THAT BIRD, whichever comes first. It was turned into a musical that only ran 5 performances on Broadway (it was at the Nederlander pre-RENT, when the area was more like the Needlelander). However as a SESAME STREET fan (who is disappointed that the interstitial bits are being cut) I hope you're not too rough on Joe Raposo.
