Strandbeests - WIP Video - Kindly requesting feedback
Added 2024-11-29 17:23:27 +0000 UTCHi all!
This is a preview for our upcoming video about strandbeests. We've had a lot of fun making this and would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Is there anything we got wrong? Anything you'd tweak? Or anything you'd like to cut or would like to see? Please let us know!
We plan to publish this video towards the end of next week.
Thank you so much for your continued support and help! We're incredibly grateful for it.

2024-12-06 01:35:21 +0000 UTCAt 5:00, you say he's only "allowed" to use a few materials. Is that self-imposed? Who is allowing him or not allowing him?

2024-12-06 01:35:04 +0000 UTCSymbiosis <> independence. You simply re-iterated the point I already made.
Kimberly Green
2024-12-04 13:22:39 +0000 UTCSure it is. It's symbiosis. Sort of. Technically speaking, the Portuguese Man-of-war reproduces the same way. It's (as I recall) a symbiote of four distinct organisms, none of which could survive (much less reproduce) on its own. Only one has reproductive capabilities, and is responsible for reproducing the entire symbiote.

2024-12-04 05:50:58 +0000 UTCI was going to say--what he created was a NOT gate, and then a flip-flop. I wonder how he'll go about AND, OR, kaj XOR gates?

2024-12-04 05:48:55 +0000 UTCA short intorduction of Theo would be nice, here from Wikipedia: Jansen was born in Scheveningen in the Netherlands. He grew up with a talent for both physics and art, and studied physics at the Delft University of Technology. Jansen left the university in 1974 without a degree. While at Delft, Jansen was involved in many projects that involved both art and technology, including a paint machine and a flying-saucer machine.

2024-12-02 21:59:56 +0000 UTCThe 'nerve cell/valve' at 23:00 can also be interpreted as a transistor

2024-12-02 10:34:35 +0000 UTCFor 17:15 you could use a video of a cat (accidentally) touching water and jumping away immediately.

2024-11-30 22:08:20 +0000 UTCThe energy storing principle at 17:51 makes me think of the wat catfleas jump. When a certain threshold is reached, the stored energy can be used. I could be wrong, but the analogy might help understand the mechanism. https://youtu.be/A5KvNcNz9aQ?t=199

2024-11-30 22:04:51 +0000 UTCJust a thought, but when Theo Janseen shows the "nerve cells" and they are clattering (23:15), I assume its oscillating, can you show the "circuit diagram" and why it oscillates? I see it as "Flip-Flop Oscillator" like in the Electronics. but not quite sure

2024-11-30 16:26:23 +0000 UTC1:25 - If your map can do the Umlauts in "Münster" and "Osnabrück", I would like to request the missing one in "Düsseldorf" as well ;) (As "Dussel" translates to idiot)

2024-11-30 08:57:11 +0000 UTCReminded me of the movie idea/script titled "A Topiary" by Shane Carruth. (The movie was never made, but the script is out there.)

2024-11-30 06:50:04 +0000 UTCThe picture at 1.42 is Vinkeveen. It is shown in the context of the danger of sea level rising, but this is not a village being swallowed by the water rising. Actually, both the land and water there are below sea level. The water you see here is the result of peat excavation.
Paul Peijzel
2024-11-29 18:48:14 +0000 UTCAt 1:28 the statement about the lowest point being "under water" should say below sea level. Otherwise it implies the land is flooded rather than recovered / usable. There is a 7th challenge before they can live "independently": They need to be able to reproduce. Otherwise, old age and systemic failure will end the species. (They do reproduce now ... via the whims of a helper organism. But that's not independence.)

2024-11-29 18:27:12 +0000 UTCIt is De Volkskrant -- we'll change this! Dankje Pieter! - Casper
