Who killed Poor Robin?

That Limbo is the first Circle of Dante's Hell might be explained by the fact that it is comprised of the least offensive sinners in Hell—far better that it be read as the *gateway* to Hell, that Dante in his Pride, would dream to count himself among the great writers... and thus begin his descent. He is corrected in Purgatory by Od’risi d’Agobbio, who remarks that fame is but a breath of wind which, "blows this way and that, // and when it changes quarter it changes name. [...] What, to eternity, is a thousand years? // Not so much as the blinking of an eye // to the turning of the slowest of the spheres. [...] The fame of man is like the green of grass: // it comes, it goes; and [God] by whom it springs // bright from earth’s plenty makes it fade and pass." I'm working the Poor Robin character in my head, particularly as it relates to Marx's quote... thanks for the food for thought, as always.

Dear Death
