Case 316: Gilbert Bogle & Margaret Chandler

When the bodies of Doctor Gilbert Bogle and Margaret Chandler were found along the banks of Sydney’s Lane Cove River on New Year's Day 1963, scandal and suspicion erupted. The two were married - but not to each other - raising immediate questions of foul play. Yet as investigators peeled back the layers of this bizarre case, they found themselves tangled in a mystery far stranger than anyone had imagined.

Case 316: Gilbert Bogle & Margaret Chandler

Comments

This episode was so interesting! I'm scared of mangroves now! I was sitting on the edge of a river bank the other day and had to tell my partner about this case. Very sad ending to two lives and the impact it had on the families. The scandal it must have caused in the 60s! which is ridiculous, if consenting adults want to have other partners that's no ones business but those involved. I am wondering who is liable for the dangerous environmental conditions by the river? Clearly was a public safety issue. Despite not being a clear cut "crime" is still a mystery and I'd love more episodes like this!

One of Australia’s most infamous double homicide cold cases qualifies as true crime, smart guy

Devil Ray Charles

So someone killed by mangroves qualifies as true crime?

This episode was so good! It felt right out of a classic Forensic Files series
