Thanks Casey! Even with the criteria it’s a GREAT team. And Aubo is versatile so works well on the bench. Hopefully another win this weekend!

Bree Clare

1. James Tedesco. 2 Anthony Minichiello. 3. Latrell Mitchell. 4. Joey Manu. 5. Daniel Tupou. 6. Brad Fitler. 7. Cooper Cronk. 8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves. 9. Jake Friend. 10. Adrian Morley. 11. Boyd Cordner. 12. Sonny Bill Williams. 13. Luke Ricketson. 14. Mitchell Aubusson. 15. Craig Fitzgibbon. 16. Angus Chrichton. 17. Victor Radley. I know the bench makes no sense and a game day squad would be lacking at prop - but, thats the all time greatest roosters team - who I have seen play!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Bree, as promised in the audio (when it comes out) here is my best 17. I needed some time to think about it. The criteria being - I had to have seen the player play. Thought I'd limit it too that. Obviously there a whole heap of legends and immortals who have played over the 100+ year history of the club. But for this exercise - only players I have seen. I do mention my all time fav player on the audio though!

Casefile True Crime

Seems like I’m probably too late for this episode of behind the files but in case I’m not - I’ve noticed some new names on the credits can you introduce the new team members?

In the Ruth Finley case, have any other psychologists weighed in on her situation? It's interesting to me that the repressed memory theory was well accepted since it's such a controversial theory. Thanks for all the work that you guys do, Casefile is one of my favourite podcasts! :)

Beck

If there was a movie or tv series about your life, who would you want to play you?

Michelle Kaehne

Some of my favourite Casefile episodes have covered cases that occurred in countries that are not Australia/UK/US e.g. 108 The Kicevo Monster, 148 The Miyazawa Family, 173 Rocio Wanninkhof & Sonia Carabantes to name but a few, as Casefile does such a great job setting the scene and transporting us to these new settings. Can we expect more cases in the upcoming year that took place in countries that have thus far, not been covered by Casefile? I also previously asked about the most downloaded episode of Casefile a few years back and you revealed that for 2021 this was 164 Cindy James - I'm curious to know what the most downloaded episodes were in the subsequent years since then? Finally, can we expect more Casefile Presents podcasts this year and can you give a teaser for the next release?

Vincent

In regards to the Ruth Finley case, how reminiscent was this to the Cindy James (Hack) case you covered 4 years ago? Considering the timing wasn't far apart, do you think it's possible that Cindy suffered from the same condition but was also misdiagnosed? (You guys are the best🖤)

Candice

Ruth Finley - did she have scars from the iron incident in her teens? Just wondering if she burned herself or just made it up entirely. That was my first red flag in this episode - made no sense the perpetrator would turn off the lights, incapacitate her, find the iron, wait for it to warm up, burn her and then leave.

Megan

I appreciate all of Casefile's writers. Is there an informal Casefile "style guide?" Do cases get put to writers (whether in the context of staff meetings or otherwise) who are seen as best suited to that writer's own style, or do the writers review suggested cases and put their hand up to tackle them based on the fact they find them personally very compelling? Adjacent to that, do writers propose cases they organically came across and feel motivated and compelled to put the necessarily large effort of research and writing into the task of bringing them to fruition?

Michael Brodie

I love how you kept a refreshing pace before and after the big twist in the Ruth Finley case—especially given that this isn’t a new story. What drew you to it initially, and did your approach to telling it evolve once you got deeper into your research?

Patrick Gadoury

Hi Casefile team! Thanks as always for the excellent production and consistently interesting content. BTF question: The Ruth Finley case was so interesting. I’ve heard of it before, but Casefile did it better and with more detail than I knew about. It struck me as similar to that of Cindy James, but in this case not as extreme, caught early enough, and treated with compassion. I believe there was still uncertainty after Cindy’s death about whether or not her torturer was her or someone else, but the behavior similarities are compelling. Did anyone on the team researching/writing/reading this think the same about parallels, or does it seem to you like two different types of situations?

Corinna Ace

Hi team! Which case are each of you the most proud of - could be because of the family’s reaction or it was the catalyst for action etc. Casey, who would be on your all time greatest Roosters team?

Bree Clare

Hi team, First time, long time. what is the process of selecting a case? As a young person, some cases are vaguely familiar from things I have heard in the news, but others seem to be huge cases I’ve never heard of before (which is why I love casefile) Is there a selection criteria? Thanks

Keehlan

Casey Anthony is in the news after trying to launch a social media career. I was pretty young when she was charged with murder, and I wonder if Casefile can cover the story? Casefile is the only true crime content I consume (I have tried others too) so if it’s an interesting story, Casefile will be the only place I’ll learn about it.

So I hope I'm not too late but for the Q&A two things that popped up lately: what's your take on the Beaumont excavation and the Silk Road pardon?

Demi

Will y'all be safe from Alfred's wrath? Please please divulge more about the being chased by staff at Mamamia offices! How did you feel about being described as being younger than anticipated? My mind has gone bananas with the blue mountains being your fave place in Australia but it's also a broad area, is there a preferred part of the mountains? And have you been to the 12 tribes cult Cafe in Katoomba "Yellow Deli" ? So glad y'all are back. I still think you could do a music podcast too, or at least something less shit in comparison to Disgraceland.

Hello Team What consideration is given into how a Casefile episode is written stylistically? Some cases simply play out in a chronological timeline while others have a more fluid storytelling narrative. As a listener, I find myself more engaged and entertained where we are walked through the law enforcement lines of enquiry and procedural elements with the 'whodunnit' reveal preserved until one of the final segments of the episode.

Ben O'Connell

Howdy all - so great to have you all back after the break. I hope everyone enjoyed some time off. I was thinking about how useless the police in every country can be and often is. Sure you get the infrequent awesome switched on cop. Overall they are overworked and under paid and rarely do their jobs well. Maybe part of their training should be to listen to the entire back catalog of Casefile, as regardless of if the casefile episode was in the 1960s or 2024, the cops still seem to make the same wrong assumptions, have the same level of care and make the same mistakes. They only reason the hit rate and accuracy has gone up over time is thanks to science and technology not because the actual police have learnt from their mistakes.

It was a patreon pick as Veronica has kindly pointed out. It will be released in the main feed as 309 this weekend.

Casefile True Crime

For case file 309-I feel like the police corruption in the Night Caller case was just so blatant. It honestly floored me. What does the team think about the way law enforcement handled or mishandled this case?

Hello! I don’t have a question, but I wanted to comment on the beautiful job you all did with the episode on Ruth Finley. You took an incredibly sensitive subject and treated it with the kindness and respect it deserves. I looked her up after listening to the episode and found her obituary. I was so touched by the care she took for her community and the curiosity with which she continued to live her life so meaningfully. Thank you for taking care of her memory as well.

Rebecca Koval

Correct. I think maybe they meant patreon pick #33? but I’m not sure….

Veronica

Case 309 is not up yet correct? Typo there?
