As someone that also comes from an Eastern European background I know that being overly emotional especially in public is very taboo even if it’s something tragic like a death.

Alison

Always a little weird to hear a local case on a podcast lol

Ashley Hoffman

I seriously doubt the validity of any information obtained after ELEVEN straight hours of interrogation. I'm mentally exhausted after a five hour exam, imagine how you'd be after repeatedly going through the worst things you've ever experienced in exhausting detail for half a day.

Kwizats

There have been cases around the world of people being interrogated in a language other than their native having negative impacts. I wish, though it's obviously not feasible, we were able to have translators lead interrogations so we had more surety of what persons of interest intended to say.

Demi

Looks like she didn't live up to her name. Maybe only the third syllable.

Potentionally

Non episode comment: Casey, I enjoyed your interview on True Crime Conversations this week! I have been listening to both podcasts since the beginning, and the crossover made me so happy!

Amber

YAS GURL!

Christopher Worrel

As a kid, I used to be scared to keep a diary for fear that my parents would read it. As an adult, this type of thing would be my fear. I get that they can be useful for solving cases, but sometimes, it’s just a person venting.

Brenda Wells

Also, awesome case, Casefile. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before.

I’ll scream it in to the void for the rest of my life—please wear a PFD when you’re on the water. Lost a young, healthy relative a couple years ago to an accident when he was crab fishing. Would have just been a fun story for him to tell later had he been wearing a life vest. I’m sure there was one on the boat, but he got separated from it.

Brenda Wells

Casefile I'm so glad you did this one because other podcasts have covered it and *definitely* made her seem guilty and i was feeling so gaslit?! and now i just feel like cops and judges and MEs and DAs are all pretty much wilding out all the time and "justice" is basically whatever they say it is on any given day. Absolutely she was judged for being foreign and for being a woman and for not wanting to risk getting hypothermia wtf and for keeping a typically emo diary. Her life is still going to be so much more difficult because of this conviction, and for what? Dudes are still gonna kayak on the Hudson without life vests or drain plugs because society has conditioned them to think that needing to take safety precautions makes them look weak. And women will still be judged and punished for nothing because it's always easier to punish a woman for perceived impropriety than it is to anything useful. Like idk teaching people not to ignore safety regulations because they think they're invincible.

AR

Speak for yourself, i was going through it

AR

I'm sorry a NINE MILLION DOLLAR bond? And they have almost no evidence that she did it?! Unreal.

AR

That was a very boring case.

David Rogosaroff

If you're suspicious of me because i want to drink wine and eat steak during a murder investigation, you have bigger problems then whether i did it 😭

AR

Don't question it! What a treat 🥳

Kim L.

If Vincent tied his kayak to the car roof through the plughole, then surely he knew that the plug was missing.

Bob Trenwith

Yessss!!!! Got my coffee and my warm blanket and I’m READY! 💕

Michellio

Who's complaining?

Bob Trenwith

Absolutely not something I'm here to complain about

Chloe Jones

I'm confused - isn't a "premium episode" a short episode?
