Case 253: Aarushi Talwar & Hemraj Banjade

Ad-free, early release.

When Rajesh and Nupur Talwar went to wake their 13-year-old daughter Aarushi on the morning of Friday May 16 2008, the couple were shocked to find her brutally murdered in her bed. Police in their Delhi suburb of Noida were summoned and the Talwars wasted no time in naming their 45-year-old servant, Hemraj Banjade, as a suspect. But when a second body was found in their apartment, investigators began to wonder if the perpetrator was someone closer to home…

Case 253: Aarushi Talwar & Hemraj Banjade

Comments

Thanks for clarifying

Louisa

I think fwiw that the way they told the whole story strongly made that point for them without them having to spell it out. Certainly everyone commenting here gets it.

His description was so gross. It felt like someone who had literally never observed a real vagina until that moment but felt so confident drawing anatomically absurd and demeaning conclusions.

Andrea Johnson

The whole case, top to bottom, is so infuriating. The medical examiner's lack of proper training, the police slutshaming, the entire working theory as to the motivation. It just makes you want to scream.

Demi

How is a kid who’s still writing letters to Santa entering into a ‘consensual’ sexual relationship? I wish casefile would acknowledge the language used around this matter by reporters etc is so so wrong.

Louisa

Deleted his comment. A rather sad comment to make, I come here to join other listeners, not cop abuse from them.

Zac

Why read the comments before listening? You’re the dick breath

Byron Ridenour

Wow what a sad case in so many ways. I almost had to stop listening in rage upon learning of the first coroner's total lack of education around women's anatomy.

Carolyn Barry

The fact that so much evidence and police footage was leaked to media!

Jen Olivares

Dreadful case and how the media treated the victim

Rosie Overell

Amazing storytelling (as usual).

Alan

Here's my Sodium Pentathol comment: compelling listening. As to local and state law enforcement, the medical examiner, the media, and the trial judge...What the actual F??? Any further comments would be potential spoilers to the way and order in which the narrative unfolds (which as usual was excellently done)

Michael Brodie

Sad case. Sure would be interesting to know the truth

Zac

Hearing my last name in a case was slightly terrifying!
