I was wondering the same thing. There was a new documentary released about Fred West’s early life. I wonder if they will mention it

2023-03-09 20:28:03 +0000 UTCHi Casefile team! The Wests story has been covered a lot over the years. I was wondering when researching for the episode you came across any new information? I thought I knew everything about the case but heard a few things in these episodes that I never heard.

2023-03-04 10:14:10 +0000 UTCCase 235: This will - like many others here - still with me for a while. Horrific, unreal. I wasn't familiar with the case as only moved to the uk in '94. I cannot fathom how people can get to such level of depravity and cruelty. A couple of questions spring to mind: 1) was there ever any 'research' into why Fred and Rose were so beyond human. For example the head traumas he suffered young or her mum's electroshock while she was in the womb, whether these circumstances might have affected their behaviour and lack of humanity? 2) secondly I am hoping today things have moved on (even if my son has so much as a scratch there's paperwork, etc). Was there ever any inquiry into the lack of awareness and responsibility from schools / social services / etc which occasionally could have been in a position to raise the alarm earlier and save lives? Thank you as always for your work, team! You continue to outdo yourself.

2023-03-03 12:14:39 +0000 UTCThis was such an extremely disturbing case, were there aspects of it that you felt had to be omitted lest it became too much for you to recount or your listeners to deal with? For instance, I’ve read somewhere that the rubber tubing that was inserted into some of victims mouths were cut to lengths that made the act of respiration very difficult to complete in that the carbon dioxide they exhaled would not always be able to clear the tube before inhalation of oxygen could occur, leading to deprivation of oxygen and heightening the torture of these poor women. I find this absolutely horrifying and I can’t even comprehend how someone would think to do this, much less actually subjecting another person to it. Did you come across this in your research, and if so, did you choose not to include this detail because of how disturbing it is? Second question regards the potential of other perpetrators at the Wests’ so-called “house parties.”Were there efforts to apprehend and charge other offenders, other than Fred’s brother? Third and final question is what are your opinions about potential other victims not officially attributed to Fred or Rosemary by law enforcement? Did you come across any that you thought were likely to have been victims of these incredibly sadistic killers?

2023-03-02 03:47:39 +0000 UTCWhat made you want to cover the West case? It has been done and redone countless of times by other podcasts, I was surprised to see it here. I do have to say that the writing was devastating and powerful. Enjoyed it lots.

2023-03-01 10:01:28 +0000 UTCSophie's case was tragic in that many people interacted with her and either suspected or knew that something was wrong, yet no one took decisive action to intervene. It left me with a tremendous feeling of regret for all the opportunities that were missed. With hindsight, it is easy to criticise. It is much easier with a friend or family member, but what would you recommend to someone who suspects that an acquaintance is being mistreated?

2023-03-01 02:59:50 +0000 UTCI hope you made a full recovery after researching and recording Case 235. I see myself as immune as one can be in terms of true crime podcasts, there's no content warning that keeps me from listening. I derived more excitement from the whole thing when I started listening to it than now. When I was deep into Case 235 I felt that rush again "now this is the Casefile I know", I thought to myself, and then followed by a deep disgust among other very bad things. I still think about the case, the couple and the victims. Why do you think Fred and Rose got away with absolutely every gruesome crime imaginable for such a long time? During your research did you find a bit more about Rose's role and what could Fred be keeping to himself? I mean, do you have some theories you didn't share in the episode? By your description she was as evil if not worse than him, but why was the case so focused on him at first? Well, I may have many questions but no way I'm going back to those episodes now. :) Thank you for making such a unique podcast, purely narrative and without interrogations/recordings, I really appreciate it.

2023-03-01 02:55:56 +0000 UTCHi Team, I don’t have a question, but sort of inline with Alix’s question….I don’t ever recall hearing about this case and I’m glad I hadn’t. I think of myself as a strong person, and I’ve listened to dozens of different podcasts with dark cases and I generally can shake them off, but the House of Horrors was so vile and disturbing, that I’ve still not been able to file it away. That said, if myself as the listener is that disturbed by what you’ve narrated, I can only only assume the you and the team researching all the details (not the caring and respectful version you provided us) would all have to be greatly affected. Thank you for what you do, it’s extremely well produced, but next time maybe take a pass on cases like these, some things are best forgotten, like 25 Cromwell Street. 🙏

2023-03-01 00:41:58 +0000 UTCDo you find it especially difficult recording cases about incestuous secual assault?
