Case 213: The Noordhoek 'Ripper Rapists'

At 2:30 AM on Sunday, December 18 1994, two cars abruptly stopped along this dark and lonely stretch of Marine Drive, one vehicle in front of the other. Each driver had slammed on their respective brakes before their passengers scrambled out to observe what lay before them.

Just wow!

Sarah Kickhefer

Alison is a bad bad woman. Those guys are sick. After just having surgery, in a hospital, with medical care, I cant even imagine. Plus the mental. Strength x100.

Bradford Shovlin

Just an FYI, “Alison” is on Amazon Prime in the US.

Brenda Wells

Thanks team. Appreciate taking the time out to respond! Makes sense. Having read the comments a few days after the episode, I completely forgot about the initial victims.

Abhi Ram

Hi Abhi, We sometimes name episodes differently in cases where there are multiple victims or survivors, even if the story focuses more on one individual specifically. We do this to retain equal respect for all of those who have been impacted by the crimes described. Furthermore, Alison is the only survivor in this case who has spoken publicly about her ordeal and revealed her full identity. The others have not, therefore we couldn't include their names in the title. Out of respect to their wishes, we used pseudonyms to refer to them in the episode.

Casefile True Crime

I’m not finished listening yet, but Alison is a badass

Haley

Question for the team - How come this episode title refers to the perpetrators? I thought it's usually the victim that the title is named after. I thought it may be because the victim survived but looking at the last Pateron Pick episode I don't think this is the case.

Abhi Ram

I’ve just finished listening and I feel like I don’t know what to say. Alison’s story is so incredible, there really aren’t any words apart from describing how awe-inspiring her strength and survival instinct was/is. This is one of the best Casefile episodes and one that made me cry during the listen. I just felt like I needed to cry to let our feelings as I was listening to this case. This was so wild for so many reasons. Thank you for bringing it to the world, not just for the people involved but the people, like me, who haven’t heard this story ❤️❤️

Maya George

I’m from South Africa, I was 19 when this happened. I remember the shock and horror of this case, Alison was and always will be an absolute legend for bringing these monsters to Justice.

Janet

Me, shouting to me in the car after hearing “Your last victim survived…” “SUSAN YOU BLOODY LEGEND”

Kerry Llewellyn

One of the most horrific, yet incredible episodes. The part where she stood up and her head went back so far, was just shook me. What a truly strong, resilient and powerful woman. Oh the audacity of that POS expecting backpay, wow. Just wow.

Jess Chiller

What an incredible woman. Think of the lives she definitely saved by being strong enough to crawl to a road. Amazing story CF team.

Amber

What an amazing story…I have goosebumps! Badass doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of this incredible woman!

Nancy Ligos

Holy smokes. The line about how she used a shirt to hold in...her insides...just wow. What a badass woman. Alison is an incredible, strong woman.

Derby Leigh

I’d heard Alison’s story before but as usual casefile presented it in a respectful and interesting way. I’m happy to hear these stories of survival and strength, first Franca’s story and now Alison’s. It’s empowering to hear stories where the victim not only survived a horrific event but goes on to change laws, lives and changing the narrative and the public’s opinions on things like sexual assault, police work and the justice system.

Monica

Wow. Wow. I’ll definitely have to seek out her book and documentary. What an amazing person.

Brenda Wells

Thank you - this was a very powerful episode 🙏

At first I thought the description of the attack was unusually graphic for Casefile, but it becomes obvious later why this detail is necessary. What a strong woman Alison is, both physically and mentally.

Helen

The documentary ‘Alison’ is one of the most life-affecting pieces of film I have ever seen. The strength of this woman is/was unbelievable.

James Franey

Alison is the definition of badass. What an amazing woman!
