Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:48:22 +0000 UTCHi Claire, none that come to mind. But I'm not including the wrongfully accused people for this answer, such as Lindy Chamberlain, Andrew Mallard and the others whose cases we have covered.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:45:26 +0000 UTCHi Stefan, nothing to do with any of the cases we cover, but as a fan of fiction, I know that I like suspense, twists and turns and an unexpected ending that feels satisfying. Not one where they've pulled a twist out of nowhere for the sake of it, but something that when you look back, you can see the clues along the way

2020-05-11 06:33:39 +0000 UTCHi Kristen, we present all information free of conjecture, just the bare bone facts, from a wide variety of sources. I think that's the best advice I can give. Stick to the facts and avoid speculation. Use as many resources as you can find. Make sure they are reputable resources. Speak to people involved. Gather your own information where possible, to add to what you have. Fact check what people are telling you. But of course, no matter how careful you are, certain potential issues can still arise, in which case, whenever you are in doubt, I recommend seeking professional legal advice.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:32:48 +0000 UTCHi Andi, In the case of Abigail Williams and Liberty German, we specifically mentioned that a persons life was impacted by web sleuths outing them on the internet and that the police requested people to stop doing it. Where possible, we try to highlight these issues.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:23:05 +0000 UTCHi Ruth, as I never wanted the show to be about, or to have a host/figure/personality. I wanted the focus to remain on the victims and the stories. And no, I have zero regrets. Very happy with that decision.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:19:23 +0000 UTCHi Andi, yes definitely changes the way we structure an episode. As we plan the structure on the recordings we have, and how to best utilise them to add to the story.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:17:40 +0000 UTCHi Lyndsey. I'll go with Kurt Cobain. Nirvana were one of my childhood favourites.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:17:06 +0000 UTCHi Paris, no extra pressure. We are just continuing to do our thing, working hard every day to make the show as best we can. No definitive plans to cover any pandemic crimes, no.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:14:36 +0000 UTCHi Kath, we have considered it yes. No definitive plans to cover it at this stage though.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:13:56 +0000 UTCIf they had information they wanted to divulge about unsolved crimes, I'd speak to any of them.
Casefile True Crime
2020-05-11 06:13:15 +0000 UTCHi Celine. I think the North Hollywood Shootout. I still remember the coverage vividly on the nightly news when it happened, and I couldn't believe what I was watching. I found it fascinating to dig into that case and hear the broadcasts on the police radio channel.

2020-05-11 04:15:49 +0000 UTCDoes covering a case with voice recordings, 911 calls or video change your feeling on the case or how you present it? For example the Pan family murders in Markham, ON, or the Erikson twins highway video.
Andi
2020-05-08 21:29:55 +0000 UTCSorry if it’s already been asked, but why did the host decide in the beginning to remain anonymous? And is it something he is glad he did or does he regret his decision? Thank you x

2020-05-08 12:43:04 +0000 UTCLove your guys' work, Casefile is incredible! My question, how would you suggest someone get started in the researching/writing part for true crime, especially concerning ethics, ensuring accuracy, etc? Are there any particular precautions you have to take for legality's sake?
kristen
2020-05-06 10:07:41 +0000 UTCWorking on some Crime fiction. Casey and team, after working on so many non-fiction cases, what would you find appealing in a fictional crime story?

2020-05-06 02:20:46 +0000 UTCDo you list your current promo codes for various sponsors anywhere? For instance: I’ll be ordering from Article soon and want to make sure they know I found them because they advert on your show. Sorry about the boring question!

2020-05-05 18:40:05 +0000 UTCIt’s been so difficult during these past 7 weeks in lockdown.I have to say I get so happy when I’m phone notifies me of a new Casefile episode-TY so much!! I live in New York State and we are one of the worst areas for Covid cases worldwide. I am a Respiratory Therapist and work with all levels of these patients.Honestly this virus alone would make a great episode.I am documenting everything I can about it that’s happening here anyway and my personal connections, the friends it has stolen from my life. Keep on making great episodes 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

2020-05-05 11:24:26 +0000 UTCI’m curious to know how the team deals with the ethics of revealing suspects names who have not been proven guilty, even if they are apart of public record? Especially in the age of the internet, a person can be doxed and have their life seriously impacted, for example the case of Abigail Williams and Liberty German, the identity of the “bridge man” has been speculated many times by Net sleuths and has profound impacts on both the investigation and potentially innocent people.
Andi
2020-05-05 10:43:05 +0000 UTCGreetings. Long time fan. Are you feeling any extra pressure right now, knowing how many people are listening to your podcast as a way to escape the pressures of the current health crisis? Are you considering any shows on crimes committed during the pandemic?
