And I'm live. Come say hi.

Comments

Are you using the app? It was playing up for me and only showing the questions. If you log on via a browser you can see them all :)

Amity B

Hi! Where can I find your responses? Only questions are showing up here.

AMFP

Cool! I think that adds so much to the show, and that’s a really strong position you’ve taken in today’s social sharing culture!

pagemaster157

Even though I missed it, I really enjoyed reading all the questions and cool responses! Thanks Casey McCasefile =)

Gabriela Rodriguez

Thanks for the chat. It's been great. Happy weekend. Go the tigers!!

Janine Botfield

Thank you for joining in everyone. Great chatting to you all as always. Will speak to you at the next one. Have a great day/night.

Casefile True Crime

It's been playing up for me too. FreeZing up and kicking me out.

Casefile True Crime

Good night Louisa. Thanks for joining us

Casefile True Crime

Thanks for joining us Laura

Casefile True Crime

I’ve had trouble this morning with the Patreon app not loading most of your replies, so I’ll log onto the browser to catch up. Have a great weekend!

Amity B

Great AMA worth staying up for (even if my three year old will be up at 5am) good night Australia 🇦🇺

Louisa Booth

I had an interest in it previously. On and off. I've read a fair few books over the years and watched documentaries. Then when I was laid up after surgery I listened to serial and watched making a murderer. While listening to a lot of Hardcore History and Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan constantly harps on about starting you own podcast. And it all sort of clicked. I thought there was room for a in depth storytelling style of true crime podcast. As there wasn't anything out there like that - that I could find anyway. So I've always had an interest. It's just now that I do casefile I don't watch or listen to anything unless it's a case we are covering.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks for the AMA! Looking forward to more Casefile in all it's forms. :)

Laura Carlson

Omg the original - I do and I'm sorry but no CGI will ever make this new one worse- Tim Curry is a master !! BEEP BEEP RICHIE *shudder

Louisa Booth

If you don't really watch any true crime shows or listen to crime podcasts, why did you decide to do a true crime podcast?

Joan G

Got time for one or two more if anyone has one.

Casefile True Crime

Oh no don't worry I didn't take it as Critiscm at all :)

Casefile True Crime

Will look them up! Thank you for your amazing podcast! Night night x

Kishi

Oh no! Not a criticism by any means! Love your work!! It's just fascinating!

Amber Simpson

No. Not yet. Some of the people who do know have funny stories about people they know who listen to the show. But don't know the connection.

Casefile True Crime

It's a long process. That's why it's not possible to release every week. As much as we try.

Casefile True Crime

Have you had any mates or family that have recognised you when listening??

Janine Botfield

Hi Amber. It can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks for the shorter episodes. Up to several months for something like EARONS.

Casefile True Crime

Morning. How long does it take to pull together an episode? In terms of research, script, narrative, post production etc?

Amber Simpson

Thankyou Mikki. I Love you all too.

Casefile True Crime

Oh I didn't know that. Yeah well who knows. Maybe one day :)

Casefile True Crime

Frightening to think about. Although if he is. Hopefully they catch him while he is still alive. That would be something.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks as always for the work you do. The content you put out. And the time you put into your fans. We love you!

Mikki

Hi Janine. Yeah I just think it works better to derive the story. It's not about a host figure. It's about the stories.

Casefile True Crime

Yes, sorry, forgot some words there!

Samantha Andrasko

I haven't. I plan too though. I remember watching the original when I was young. I don't even really remember what it's about.

Casefile True Crime

As in what one would be solved? I would find that impossible to choose. I want them all to be solved. Couldn't pick one over the other.

Casefile True Crime

Hey Casey Mc. Why the decision to go anonymous? ? Was it intentional in ur set up plans for the podcast?

Janine Botfield

Last question from me. Completely unrelated to the show. Have you gone out to watch the IT movie yet??

Mikki

If you could chose only one case out of all the unsolved cases out there, which one would it be and why?

Samantha Andrasko

I watched making a murderer. That was before I started casefile. Since I started casefile I haven't watched or listened to anything true crime - unless it relates to a case we were doing. Definitely Not a hobby of mine. I get enough crime through casefile.

Casefile True Crime

She met with the sheriff a couple of weeks ago. Of course it was 40 years ago so she tried her best to remember what she could. She never told me about hat incident - she said she never told anyone. The sheriff thinks he's still alive. Let that one sink in. :o

Suzanne August

Thank you very much Louisa. Good to hear. Always happy to hear when people get friends and family onto the show as well :)

Casefile True Crime

Do you ever watch any Netflix crime shows? Confession Tapes? Making a murderer? The Keeper? Is it a hobby in your time off I guess is a better question.

Mikki

Of course. I suppose I wondered if you'd thought about ending that at some point -- like the Thinking Sideways trio did in June. They were anonymous for 3 years and then came to CrimeCon.

Megan Moe

Oh no. Yes I can imagine she would be freaked out. So scary. If that was a movie I wouldn't believe the story of the EAR. I'd think it was too far fetched. It's unbelievable how active he was and what he did. Can only hope they identify him one day.

Casefile True Crime

Hi from the 🇬🇧 love the show - only today I got three of my work mates to check it out - I'm always surprised and pleased I'm not the only one interested in this stuff - one thing I love it's the time and cadence in which you speak - really easy to listen too (which is often a problem with a lot of podcasts)

Louisa Booth

I love how British you are - mucking is my new favorite term

David

Not so much that - I just like being able to bring attention to the unsolved ones.

Casefile True Crime

I think the ones like Amy Lynn Bradley are most frustrating for me. When there are pretty clear suspects and little progress. Although I loved the episode of course!

Joan G

Hi! I have news for you re East Area Rapist. I wrote before that my friend's parents think he was in their yard. Well my friend, K, got a letter from the Sacramento Sheriff's Dept - she and two friends had incident about 2am on 7/9/76 with a man who accosted them while they sat in a truck at dead end of her street in Carmichael. He came up to passenger window and hit it with his flashlight and tried to open the door. The girl driving managed to put it in reverse but K got a good look at him before he turned off his flashlight and walked in between two houses. Later they had to take K home but there were cop cars all over the street - one of the houses he walk by had been burglarized. They are pretty sure now he was the EAR. My friend may be one of the only people to ever see his face. They think he knew one of the girls in the truck lived in the street and that he had been in their back yard later that summer trying to see if it was her. She is completely freaked out as you can imagine!

Suzanne August

Hahaha

Casefile True Crime

Yeah that was bad. Very troubling case.

Casefile True Crime

Do you think that’s because you’d like to one day be a link to an unsolved case?? Imagine the Patreon support then!!!

Mikki

To be honest. My memory is a bit vague with the finer details of that one. There have been so many since. But I remember just being totally bamboozled by it. thinking "What The F happened here" very troubling case that one.

Casefile True Crime

You could go to a convention low key. If you have to talk just do a fake Yank accent or something. Lol

Crystal Stern

Was the Jonestown case demanding on your mentally? Especially listening to the tapes on the final day?

Mikki

Yeah I actually prefer covering unsolved cases. But I know not everyone likes them. So that's why we try and keep a good balance.

Casefile True Crime

Oh so many. Pretty much any big one you can think of actually. We will get to them all given enough time.

Casefile True Crime

I think the Luna case was my favorite episode. Do you have a guess why he was murdered, whether it was the missing money or drug trial he was prosecuting or something else?

Nick P

Joe Rogan. Hardcore History. Jocko Podcast. A few rugby league podcasts. And NFL fantasy footballera.

Casefile True Crime

I was so excited for the bonus episode this week. At first I thought it was going to be an unsolved case, which I'll admit I hate cold cases. So, that being said, do you tend to have a preference for solved or unsolved cases?

Joan G

Hi Megan. No not really. Would be too difficult with the whole anonymous thing.

Casefile True Crime

I'm sure it is still going.

Casefile True Crime

Hi David. It certainly was. I like to go to the gym. Excercise is important. Wear myself out and get my mind off things like Jonestown. Listening to Music is another. Going to the beach. Hanging out with friends and family and being jovial and mucking around. Keeping up the friendly banter with them. And sports.

Casefile True Crime

Do you have a case that you haven't worked on at all yet that you really want to do?

Miranda Perry

What podcasts do you listen to; true crime or not..?

Kishi

Even better

Casefile True Crime

Good question- researching this stuff must be hard going...

Kishi

Have you thought about coming to a pod and/or crime convention yourself?

Megan Moe

The Morcombe episode was emotional for me too. I wonder if their foundation still takes donations.

ann

Hey again Casey - Jonestown has been my favorite episode so far. However as fascinating as it was - it was incredibly sad. How do you get away from all the dark themes of the podcast? Time with family? Lady friend? Fishing?

David

Or a VB 😁

Kishi

Haha. Casey it is

Casefile True Crime

Yeah not sure when the episode will be released. But it's one of many we are working on.

Casefile True Crime

He sure is.

Casefile True Crime

Oooh, great question, Mikki.

Karen S

Oh yes!

Casefile True Crime

Oh definitely not. A nice herbal tea then!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Miranda. Some people hate it. Some people love it. Some people are neither here nor there. The first week was a bit of a nightmare as many though you had to pay. Which I understand as that pop up ad is the first thing that comes up when you open the app. But once we exoplanets the process it seems like most people were cool with it.

Casefile True Crime

That's the plan ;)

Amity B

Hi Mikki. No nothig like that at the moment unfortunately.

Casefile True Crime

Hello Halley

Casefile True Crime

You guys are the best. Professional & committed while also being great listeners to your fans.

MMH

At this point in time no. We can't go into it. Maybe one day though.

Casefile True Crime

I think you Casey McCasefile has become the #1 and now for certain, that you have said it makes you laugh.

Laura Carlson

That and port Arthur, as they were Australian are the most interesting to me personally

David Spark

Thank you Karen you too

Casefile True Crime

amazing to hear your team get to meet with detectives!

Kishi

5pm for me. So I've switched from coffee to something... More fun ☺️

Crystal Stern

Good morning Ann. It's 8am here.

Casefile True Crime

Casey McCasefile is a personal favourite. That cracked me up.

Casefile True Crime

The ones that know were. A lot still don't even know about the podcast :) I'm good at staying under the radar.

Casefile True Crime

11PM in the UK no coffee for me!!

Kishi

Absolutely one of my favorite episodes!

David

Get a coffee. I'm about to have my second already :)

Casefile True Crime

Dan Carling is the man 👍

Ryan Beattie

Sorry to hear about your team. Hope you didn't have any money on it. ;-) Have a great weekend!!

Karen S

Good morning for me. Hi Brett.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Monique. Anna and Mike went to podcast movement. Learnt a lot. There were some great talks. The highlight being Dan Carlin's talk. Anna then met with detectives regarding a couple of cases :) so it was very productive.

Casefile True Crime

I'm so excited 😊

Kishi

Hi Karen. Thankyou. Yes it's grand final weekend. (He super bowl of rugby league) My team got knocked out last weekend unfortunately :( the game to get into the grand final. Always makes it harder to watch - but I'll still be watching. That's on tomorrow night.

Casefile True Crime

Hello! Thanks so much for all your hard work! This is my favorite podcast and I look forward to it every week! How is the partnership with the new app working out?

Miranda Perry

:)

Casefile True Crime

Hi Kishi

Casefile True Crime

Hi David. No exclusive. It was released publicly. The whole thing is available online.

Casefile True Crime

Do you have a P.O. box. Or Aussie equivalent to a P.O. box for fan mail to be sent?

Mikki

Glad you enjoyed it Laura.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Samantha. Heading into summer. So it's very nice at the moment.

Casefile True Crime

What time Is it there? Good Morning Casefile!!

ann

What "names" do you like your fans to call you. If you like any of them. It must be entertaining to read some of the threads

Laura Carlson

Hi David - personally I don't actually listen to any other crime podcasts. Not because I don't think they are good - I've heard there is some real good ones - I just need a release from crime when it comes time for leisurely listening. So I stick to Hardcore history. Joe Rogan. And Jocko podcast.

Casefile True Crime

Was your family excited you could finally give up your day job?

Crystal Stern

Hi Christina. Thankyou very much. Yes I'll still be anonymous :)

Casefile True Crime

Hi Nick. Yeah I don't doubt any of the convictions. No hasn't been intentional. It's just the cases we've come across and decided to do. There was case 21 that we covered which didn't follow this path though.

Casefile True Crime

Any chance you can divulge what the content was?

Mikki

Good morning :) I'm too sleepy to think of a question, zzzzz. Lol

Amity B

Hi Brendan.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Mikki and Brendan. We had to take 55 down for now due to legal issues.

Casefile True Crime

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening everyone.

Brett_T

Great work. Can you tell me about your recent trip to the Podcast awards in LA?

MMH

Hi! Another listener from Minneapolis, MN here. Thank you for all the great Patreon 2.0 perks. I've really been enjoying the look behind the scenes, the team AMA, and the mini episode! Any plans to watch rugby (I think my Aus podcast friends called it "footy"?) this weekend?

Karen S

I can see a tv slot on the horizon - definitely

Kishi

Ahhhh! My first Casefile "Hi". So thrilled. Lol!

Laura Carlson

Flat out just getting regular episodes out let alone a TV series! Would be cool in the future though.

Casefile True Crime

Hello Angie

Casefile True Crime

Woo hoo ! My first AMA! Love your work!

Kishi

Hello Laura

Casefile True Crime

Hello from Melbourne, I have a question about the Daniel morcombe episode, did you get exclusive access to the confession tapes or was it just released publicly just prior to you doing the episode? One of my favourite episodes, really compelling.

David Spark

I really enjoyed the mini episode. Thanks for that. :)

Laura Carlson

Hey! How's Australia?

Samantha Andrasko

*as

David

Hello from the Bay Area!! I absolutely love your show! Question - do you think other crime podcasts glorify the killers? I like how you actually show them and evil people - not some celebrities

David

Hello Laura

Casefile True Crime

Hello from Minneapolis, MN! I enjoy your show immensely and look forward to each post! Congrats on going full-time! Will you stay Anonymous?

pagemaster157

Thank you Crystal

Casefile True Crime

It was pulled due to an issue with the recorded testimony I believe.

Brendan Wilhide

Great! Relaxing after a day with kindergarteners ;-)

Diana Jacobacci

Very busy! I have no idea how anything got done while I was at work. Trying to get ahead.

Casefile True Crime

Whoops, posted this in the wrong place: In the solved cases you have covered, are there any where you doubt the guilt of those convicted? It seems most of the solved cases involve people whose guilt is not controversial; is that intentional?

Nick P

Hello from Charlotte, NC. Love the show.

Brendan Wilhide

My favourite time of the month! Hello from London Ontario Canada Congratulations on your full time endeavour. Just curious. Did I miss something ? Was there not an episode 55? I feel like I’ve gone crazy.

Mikki

When is the Netflix series happen? 😆

Ryan Beattie
