Casefile True Crime
2017-07-16 00:06:15 +0000 UTCThat's incredible news. You've got such a talent for this. Best of luck to you.
Mikki
2017-07-16 00:04:49 +0000 UTCIf it was just Patreon. It would be a lot more. But Patreon combined with the adds. We might not be that far away. Another level or two possibly. It's something I've often wondered. What working on casefile full time would be like.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-16 00:03:52 +0000 UTCIf you all were to resign from your jobs to do this as a full time job, how much monthly patreon support would you need?
Mikki
2017-07-15 23:58:14 +0000 UTCAny other questions?
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:57:01 +0000 UTCHaha. No doubt
Chandelle Whitney
2017-07-15 23:53:58 +0000 UTCAlways good to hear :) thanks for recommending us. I know so many of you do π
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:50:28 +0000 UTCYep I've heard they are both great. I don't listen to any true crime pods though. I get enough true crime doing casefile!
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:49:19 +0000 UTCI have a friend who just started getting interested in true crime, and I introduced him to Casefile first since it's my favorite. Can't get him into much of anything else now because everything else pales in comparison, he says. Whoops, haha.
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:49:04 +0000 UTCJocko was on the Tim Ferris podcast. Then Rogans soon after. And they both told him he should start a podcast. That's how he got started. Glad he did.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:48:18 +0000 UTCThe winners get announced next month. But no I don't think we stand a chance. Very honoured just to be nominated though.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:47:29 +0000 UTCI knew what you meant :)
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:46:33 +0000 UTCYeah it's a tough one. And I think the fact police say, at least in more recent cases, that a suspect shouldn't be ruled out just because they don't match the profile - shows that they understand it's definitely not an exact science. But then some profiles come up and they fit so well. But - I guess a lot of them could fit a lot of people. I think they are fine to use as a tool to help, one of many tools, so long as investigators don't get to attached to them. Which I don't think they do these days. They know it's not an exact science.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:45:49 +0000 UTCYou might like those two. Pretend there was two of you having a back and forth commentary on a specific crime. That's Gen Why and True Crime Garage.
Chandelle Whitney
2017-07-15 23:44:43 +0000 UTCRogan is the man, love his podcasts too. I'll give Jocko a listen. Thank you. π
Ryan Beattie
2017-07-15 23:42:59 +0000 UTCOooh. I look into Jocko. Thanks!
Chandelle Whitney
2017-07-15 23:42:12 +0000 UTCThank you Grace. I still think I'm terrible :) but thank you for the kind words. No plans to bring in a new narrator, don't worry.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:41:48 +0000 UTCYeah that's awesome. Glad you liked it. I don't listen to any other story based ones. Rogan is my other go to. Love the wide variety of guests. But I get that not every episode is for everyone. Also Jocko podcast. Jocko is a former navy seal. Drops some knowledge and life lessons and motivation. It's very good.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:39:39 +0000 UTCMy favorite podcasts: Casefile, Generation Why and True Crime Garage. I never heard... Did you win that podcast award?
Chandelle Whitney
2017-07-15 23:38:19 +0000 UTCof course I did not mean to write testing I meant the sting
Grace Halligan
2017-07-15 23:38:02 +0000 UTCWriter Malcolm Gladwell had an article called "Dangerous Minds" about how criminal psychological profiling is basically junk science, with profilers being little different from astrologers and psychics. Criminal profiles have come up in some of the episodes, especially the unsolved serial cases. Any opinion on profiling?
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:37:46 +0000 UTCIt sounded like you were getting tired of saying it. Caravan became Caribbean.
Dahlia Dennington
2017-07-15 23:36:49 +0000 UTCI was also very impressed with testing use by the police force to catch the killer of Daniel Morcombe. I have to mention yet again the way your team put together casefiles is beyond brilliant. Never make the mistake of changing the narrator. I cannot listen to other podcasts (apart from the ABC's Conversations) they are just not good enough.

2017-07-15 23:35:55 +0000 UTCI can't remember either actually now if it was mentioned or not. But they size for that long. The cost would have defenitely been into the millions. Yeah it was such a good job. Brilliant how they got him.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:35:47 +0000 UTCFirst I finish my episode of "Six Degrees of Murder" on m yu DVR and then Casefile
Chandelle Whitney
2017-07-15 23:35:24 +0000 UTCA count? I don't follow. Did I say it too many times or something.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:32:56 +0000 UTCI'm halfway through today's episode; that Tobias guy seems like an a-hole
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:31:03 +0000 UTCNot Crime related, but a couple of ama ago you recommend the hardcore history podcast, which was amazing. Can you recommend any other podcasts? π
Ryan Beattie
2017-07-15 23:29:50 +0000 UTCThe Daniel Morcombe murder sting was stunning to me. Did you find out during your research how much money it cost to do that (if it was in the episode, I forgot)? I just can't imagine an American police agency putting that much manpower and money to bring someone down who wasn't a crime boss or something similar.
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:29:47 +0000 UTCBetter not say anything else
Dahlia Dennington
2017-07-15 23:28:46 +0000 UTCI'm saving it for my hike tomorrow!! Can't wait though. Perfect length for a walk.

Dahlia Dennington
2017-07-15 23:28:17 +0000 UTCYes. Is there a count on caravan oark?
Dahlia Dennington
2017-07-15 23:28:12 +0000 UTCI'm saving it for my commute to work
Ryan Beattie
2017-07-15 23:28:05 +0000 UTCAnyone listened to today's episode yet?
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:27:42 +0000 UTCMy mind has changed so many times. At first I thought yes he's still alive. Then I thought no way. Then I went back and forth about ten times. Now I just have no idea at all. I think it still can be solved. One day they'll identify him.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:25:43 +0000 UTCDo you think that EAR/ONS is still alive? And that it will be ever solved?
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:21:18 +0000 UTCThank you Chantal. That means a lot to us.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:20:25 +0000 UTCThan you Mikki. We still pinch ourselves at the support every day. Very overwhelming.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:19:30 +0000 UTCMost definitely
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:18:42 +0000 UTCThat is - The majority of cases we have covered, that are solved, that mention psychiatrist evaluations.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:18:20 +0000 UTCHi Nick. Yeah we did look at it. But there are so many podcasts who have covered it we don't think we can possibly add any more.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:17:21 +0000 UTCIf a psychiatrist evaluation was completed, which are usually done leading up to court hearings, we mention it and state their findings. I like to leave it to the experts. I don't have exact numbers, but the majority of cases we have covered on casefile - mental illness is not to blame.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:15:50 +0000 UTCHi, I just wanted to say I'm very grateful to how you respect your victims while you're covering these gruesome stories. The content isn't easy to talk about, but I've always been so appreciative that you don't go into the gory details and you use more 'legal language'. When I listen I just get a sense that you're honoring the victim and not the crime.
Chantal Schueller
2017-07-15 23:15:26 +0000 UTCThere are a few I've decided not to listen to but I do find the psychology interesting even though there's some awful crimes covered! Thanks for all the research and hard work!
Leona Armstrong
2017-07-15 23:15:21 +0000 UTCSo happy you guys are close to achieving the 5k in Patreon donations! It's really speaks to the quality of work you do. So glad to be a member.
Mikki
2017-07-15 23:13:55 +0000 UTCAny chance of doing the Melbourne gangland wars?
Andrew Eastwood
2017-07-15 23:13:02 +0000 UTCAny interest in covering the Elisa Lam case (the woman in the water tower)? Or do you think there's not much you could add as it is already a pretty prominent mystery?
Nick P
2017-07-15 23:12:29 +0000 UTCNot in the immediate future. But definitely more on the horizon. Plenty we want to cover from Canada.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:09:39 +0000 UTCHi Leona. Pretty much all of them. They just vary in degrees of toughness. But at the pointy end would be Snowtown. That wasn't good. Very disturbing case.

2017-07-15 23:05:56 +0000 UTCWhat case have you found toughest to talk about?
Leona Armstrong
2017-07-15 23:04:05 +0000 UTCNot at the moment. All one patters upcoming. Plenty we would like to do. But nothing on the immediate horizon.
Casefile True Crime
2017-07-15 23:03:23 +0000 UTCSounds perfect! Any series' that you've got on the docket?
Mikki
2017-07-15 23:02:42 +0000 UTCHi Mikki. It will be another Australian case. One all Aussies will know. One parter, not a series.

2017-07-15 23:02:10 +0000 UTCHope you enjoyed your mini break! So looking forward to your upcoming stories! Can you give us a hint of next weeks?
