I'm late ... but might as well give it a shot in case you look over this chat again. Do you (narrator/creator) have a personal favorite episode you've made?
Stephanie Low
2017-06-22 20:47:38 +0000 UTCLoving the pod. Really enjoy the episodes where you focus on what law enforcement was doing and the officers involved. There would be a few excellent episodes in the Daniel Morcombe case focusing on the "mr big" scheme they ran to catch Peters. Less love for the eps where the bad guy is never caught or identified.
Scott Rowe
2017-06-22 11:05:13 +0000 UTCAhh missed it. Didn't get the chance to ask how the host feels about the marooons big win last night :)
Gillian Freeman
2017-06-22 05:00:08 +0000 UTCI supposed I missed it. yep.
Karen Favreau
2017-06-22 01:56:50 +0000 UTCDon't think we will be covering that one.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:57:47 +0000 UTCInteresting. It was maddening to hear how information the police kept from the public so as not to jeopardize future arrests during the EAR's case could have helped prevent or at least stem some of the attacks. On the other hand it makes me wonder if he'd have committed more murders sooner if he'd had more media attention.
Alma Holevinski
2017-06-22 00:56:42 +0000 UTCAny chance of an episode on the Greenough murders? I'm in the US so that might be a well known one for you but I find it terrible and fascinating.
Crystal Stern
2017-06-22 00:56:34 +0000 UTCI have to run. Thank you all for joining me. Have a good day/night.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:56:21 +0000 UTCHello Laura and hello to your daughter :)
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:56:05 +0000 UTCMy daughter listens to your podcast as well, she wanted me to say hello and thank you, lol!
Laura Rambeau Moriarty
2017-06-22 00:53:36 +0000 UTCNo not really. I did check locks a fair bit though during EARONS.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:50:50 +0000 UTCThank you Grace
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:50:29 +0000 UTCHas doing this podcast changed the way you live your everyday life? For example- adding more locks to doors?
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:49:01 +0000 UTCI love you work and have become addicted to it thank you for all the hard work you do. I am astounded that the police have not caught the serial rapist. I find it astounding that he hasn't been caught.
Grace Halligan
2017-06-22 00:46:15 +0000 UTCNo it's much easier doing US Canada ones actually. LE are much more willing to assist. It's hard to get anywhere in Australia with LE unless you are a major media outlet.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:45:26 +0000 UTCThank you Mikki.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:44:16 +0000 UTCYeah so well known ones like that, where we feel we can add something we will do.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:44:03 +0000 UTCNothing that is coming to mind.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:43:23 +0000 UTCThe focus you put on cases that are less well known is much appreciated. Also, just want to say that your episode on Mr Cruel was excellent. Terrifying, but excellent. That case freaked me out so much as a kid and you covered it so well.
Skye Doyle
2017-06-22 00:43:18 +0000 UTCDo you find it easier to research cases in your country vs the U.S or other countries? Where do you get the best cooperation from LE or othe investigative agencies during your research? BTW, thank you for the work you do. Love the podcast!
Alma Holevinski
2017-06-22 00:43:00 +0000 UTCIt's not really a break. We aren't taking time off. We just needed the time off to get back in front with some episodes.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:43:00 +0000 UTCThanks for all the hard work on the extras. Loved the maps and things during EAR. The magazine is amazing! Thank you so much.
Mikki Echtinaw
2017-06-22 00:40:08 +0000 UTCThanks for not doing those high profile ones. I much prefer the cases I haven't heard of or don't know much about. Except the Moors Murders. You guys made it feel like a new case.
Crystal Stern
2017-06-22 00:38:17 +0000 UTCSame- I prefer to listen to cases that are solved, but for some reason love the mystery of "who is the host"?
Joan G
2017-06-22 00:38:02 +0000 UTCIs there a case you've been dying to cover, but just can't seem to get to?
Leslie Lavigne
2017-06-22 00:36:54 +0000 UTCFor someone taking a break for a few weeks, you guys sure have been working hard and not resting!
Joan G
2017-06-22 00:36:02 +0000 UTCThank you
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:35:43 +0000 UTCI listen to hardcore history. The joe Rogan experience. And Jocko podcast.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:35:35 +0000 UTCThank you Skye. Just the really high profile ones that have been done a million times where we feel there is nothing we could add. OJ and ones like that.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:34:53 +0000 UTCjust wanted to say thanks. You all do such a wonderful job. xx
Rae
2017-06-22 00:34:24 +0000 UTCWhat podcasts, if any, do you and your team listen to?
Leslie Lavigne
2017-06-22 00:32:54 +0000 UTCThanks to you and your team for your amazing work - it's so detailed and well researched. Are there any types of cases that you absolutely would not consider covering?
Skye Doyle
2017-06-22 00:32:31 +0000 UTCNo nothing I've come across personally.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:31:23 +0000 UTCWhen you research any case (as in depth as you do), have you ever come across evidence/a new idea in any of the unsolved stories that sparked new life into a cold case that you shared with law enforcement? I always wonder if you have "aha" moments where you think "they didn't catch this, I should share"
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:29:14 +0000 UTCDefinitely. One of the first things I thought of. Some eerie similarities.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:28:41 +0000 UTCA lot of them are actually suggested or ones that we stumble across while researching other cases. So if they jump out at us that is generally enough. There's isn't a criteria as such.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:28:23 +0000 UTCDo you see any similarities with the EARONS case and Mr. Cruel?
Laura Rambeau Moriarty
2017-06-22 00:26:45 +0000 UTCIt's very hard for me to listen to the episodes involving unsolved cases. What factors do you consider in determining which cases to cover?
Patrick Bracken
2017-06-22 00:23:53 +0000 UTCThat depends on a whole lot of factors. Generally there will be a whole list of options and we will just be drawn to one of them.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:22:47 +0000 UTCAnother couple of weeks. First week of July.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:22:15 +0000 UTCYeah true. I never go back and re listen but I believe the early episodes would be pretty cringe worthy narration wise.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:21:38 +0000 UTCThank you Kara. A lot of the evidence, in fact the majority from the EAR attacks was destroyed. Due to the statute of limitations expiring (pre DNA)
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:21:01 +0000 UTCAlso- how do you determine which cases to study next?
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:20:44 +0000 UTCI think you said your taking a short break. When will new episodes be released?
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:19:13 +0000 UTCI know I sometimes listen to more lighthearted podcasts like "My Dad Wrote a Porno" or "The Karen and Ellen Letters" just to reset my mind and cleanse my palette.
Leslie Lavigne
2017-06-22 00:17:20 +0000 UTCI think overtime you just found your podcast voice. You were always easy to understand, but hey I'm an Aussie so it's standard :)
Alarna Kladnig
2017-06-22 00:16:41 +0000 UTCShoot. Also- (EAR) for one of the victims he said he lived in an apartment building. I realize he did throw out a lot of incorrect information but that could have been a lead as well. Or the beer cans- I'm wondering if all of them were destroyed b/c there were so many... Overall- I really appreciate this podcast. The production is phenomenal. Shout out to your team
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:16:31 +0000 UTCYes, too much True crime is definitely a thing, I have to disconnect sometimes. I can't imagine having to do all your research and work without taking a break.
Laura Rambeau Moriarty
2017-06-22 00:15:51 +0000 UTCYeah I guess because it's different people will talk about it. It has gotten a lot of critisicm too. Particularly in the early days of the podcast. Some complained they couldn't understand me.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:15:16 +0000 UTCI'm not too sure. Little is known. There are some who suspect the envelopes were thrown out - keeping in mind that DNA wasn't a thing then. But I can't answer definitively.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:13:57 +0000 UTCOff the topic of true crime for a moment. What do you think of the obsession everyone (mostly non-Australian) has with your accent?
Alarna Kladnig
2017-06-22 00:13:14 +0000 UTCLots of exercise. Simpsons. Music. Yoga/stretching. Sport. Listening to other podcasts (not true crime related) Reading (not true crime related)
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:12:57 +0000 UTCYes it was. People picked you as hopes you'll go to crimecon in Nashville!!
Gia Guilmette
2017-06-22 00:12:48 +0000 UTCThis is my favorite podcast- one of my favorite episodes was The Sommerton Man. So on the EAR episode- did the police test the envelopes for DNA from the letters he mailed to them?
Kara Root
2017-06-22 00:12:06 +0000 UTCThankyou
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:12:00 +0000 UTCis that like a poll or something?

2017-06-22 00:11:53 +0000 UTCHardcore history? A podcast? Sounds awesome
Gia Guilmette
2017-06-22 00:11:32 +0000 UTCHello Laura. Thank you.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:11:27 +0000 UTCNot too sure. Anything is possible.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:11:18 +0000 UTCYeah there were some different descriptions. But I guess it's possible he changed his appearance for different attacks. Some said he was pretty hairless on the legs too. I think he was constantly changing.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:11:05 +0000 UTCHow does the team unwind, or clear their minds from the murder and madness they immerse themselves in? How do you prevent it from affecting you?
Leslie Lavigne
2017-06-22 00:10:25 +0000 UTCHello Kim.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:09:42 +0000 UTCI like the mystery of your profile. Excellent work on EAR!
MATTHEW WATSON
2017-06-22 00:09:35 +0000 UTCYou're a selection on The Who we hope to see at cc 2018! I picked you! You're like #2!
Gia Guilmette
2017-06-22 00:09:34 +0000 UTCI LOVE the multi parts! 😭
Kim Schjang Pronounced Shayng
2017-06-22 00:09:14 +0000 UTCYeah it took a lot of us that's for sure. But happy to put the work in to bring attention to unsolved cases. Especially one of that magnitude.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:09:07 +0000 UTCNot sure we will be doing any more multi parters this year. So just single episodes. I think. But then again, that could change in the next few months. So not definite.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:08:30 +0000 UTCHi from North Carolina. Thanks so much for the excellent work on EAR/ONS.

Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:07:48 +0000 UTCHorrible. Such a terrifying time.
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:07:35 +0000 UTCSome victims said EAR had very dark hair. Including on his legs. Other witnesses say blonde or fair hair. That discrepancy didn't seem to come up.
Angie Gawreletz
2017-06-22 00:07:21 +0000 UTCHello from Las Vegas Nevada in the US! You got me into true crime!

2017-06-22 00:06:53 +0000 UTCGo ahead
Casefile True Crime
2017-06-22 00:06:13 +0000 UTCEAR was intense. I hope doing single cases for a little while gives the team a bit of a mental break.

2017-06-22 00:03:53 +0000 UTCThank you for the hardcore history recommendation on your last ask me anything. It's my new favourite pod cast after case file of course. 👍
Ryan Beattie
2017-06-22 00:03:48 +0000 UTCI was 16 in 1976 and my best friend lived in Carmichael so I lived through the EAR. He was in my friends back yard one night as a prowler and when her dad yelled at him, he jumped the back fence but broke a sprinkler head on the lawn when he ran. It was a terrifying time. I found your podcast and sent it to my friend but she is still to frightened to listen to it.
