January 2/2 Update: Discord Server + Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey everyone! Happy Chinese New Year!

I made a Discord Server, currently it's only for supporters, however it will be open to the public in a couple of weeks, with exclusive channels for Patreons.

In there starting from April I plan on streaming every month for supporters! We'll vote on an optimal time later on. I will also be recording these sessions in case people miss them.

I'm also going to buy a new desk for the workspace

End of the Dylexitard Arc:

Well I'm very happy with how the comments for the latest episode have been very sympathetic to Jenny's dyslexia twist! A lot of commenters talked about their own experiences with impostor syndrome with their disorder, and the implications it would be for them when they realize that the disability they had their entire life was just a false diagnosis.

One year ago I went back to my childhood child behavior psychologist and she said something very similar to me when I inquired to her about my own dyslexia. This lead me to question my own identity and how I shaped my own life from my own diagnosis when I was a kid. I defined a lot of my crucial failures in life to the inability to read properly, as the ability to read affected my confidence in social interactions, I became introverted and miserable.

Expressing these feelings in art has been very cathartic for me and I do plan on tackling other important social issues I faced while growing up. In some sick twisted way, I'm thankful to have had dyslexia, I made me seriously invest in art as a means to communicate, making me the artist that I am now.

 A lot of people have asked if Jenny actually has dyslexia or not, the truth is, I don't know, I don't know if she has dyslexia, I don't know if I have dyslexia myself. To don't want to know. Frankly, like Jenny, I'm scared to know the truth if my life has been a lie.

With the new discord server, I can go in more detail in how I work on art and my process. So if you want to find additional information, please consider joining the discord where I go more in-depth in a less formal way, rather than wait bimonthly for the newsletter!

With how social media works nowadays, I think it would be really cool if I showcased characters/ concepts earlier like how I did with Daisy Wu's character. Daisy was never supposed to appeared this early in the comic, the plot with her character in it doesn't appear till a couple of story arcs later. However, showing glimpses of future plot points is a really cool idea I see other storytellers use so I'm going to incorporate them into the way I post my content onto social media and see how it goes.

General Updates

I will be traveling to Japan next month and talking to other Japanese creatives. I haven't been to Japan ever since I graduated from my internship there when I was 17. Back then I worked in an animation studio and I hated every second of it lol
