SEPT UPDATE 2/2 BORN TO WORK RETAIL

This month has been the most hectic month ever for the comic.

It was also a very pleasant surprise to have the comic go viral. I was expecting the worse from the internet before was considering posting it. It was a very heavy comic and the most real comic I've ever written. I'm grateful that it exceeded my expectations and with the amount of people sharing their own personal experiences.

Dyslexia is my critical failure in life. The repurcussions on treating myself this way is felt even till today. My love in creating art comes from my inability to express myself properly in words. The personal relationships that I could've had were destroyed because I acted like a fool. I'm happy to finally have an outlet to express these feelings and experiences.

I've recieved a lot of nice emails following the posting of the comic, including one who was a teacher currently teaching dyslexic children himself. I think stuff like this really makes this job of being a comic creator mean so much for me.

 You know, for the longest time I've been making fanart on the internet, I even started out making softcore porn for a while. I never really felt satisfied with what I made. I felt like I was just people pleasing and using it as a board to get a lot of likes on Twitter. I never never expected a comic which came from deep rooted insecurities to do so well instead and be the best preforming work I've ever made.

Also surprised that people were really mature and empathetic with me using the word "retard" over and over.

There is a part two which ties up a lot of these events for Jenny as a character, I think it's one of the most pivitol moments she will ever experience in her life. It also gives a bit more depth in the way she thinks about the world and how she treats others in her situation. I hope that comic gets recieved well, I can see a lot of people being angry in an unexpected way with the way I end this story arc.

Jenny on Admiralty

 Jenny on admiralty is a meltdown episode. It's supposed to showcase the overall guilt Jenny faces being stuck working retail.

 I didn't want the experience of Jenny to be watered down as a character who is "oh boo hoo im poor and I work a shitty job" "here's some slapstick humor on the side while I never express my problems". In a lot of other shows, I feel like the experiences of the employees themselves get pushed aside for the premise of the wacky employees in the store and other wacky scenarios that could arise from it.

I never expected Jenny's inner child to be such a prime aspect of Jenny as a character, but after writing the story and going along with the flow, it makes complete sense and you're gonna see a lot more of her guilt tripping present Jenny.

 Oh finally, evil man comes back with a plan. I have so much planned for evil red man.

The manager having a murder arc was completely out of left field but also very in character I feel. I'm cooking up the justification for the murder. It's really really interesting on how the manager started out as a one off joke character to a large pillar of the main story.

  Now with the major story arc wrapping up I'm going to fall back onto more small slice of life stories to ease the tension. I think everyone in the comic right now is absolutely miserable at this point and it's the right time to give them a small breather.

I also plan on introducing wheelchair girl more soon! She's a slightly different character personality I've never really written before, but she's on the same lifepath like Jenny and Zoey so it's fitting to add her in now.

Please please give me your thoughts on how the comic is going! I'd love to hear some input on how you guys think the story is going? There were a lot of story direction changes this past couple months and I want to have a gague on if my direction with the story is good.
