FEBUARY UPDATE 2/2 I WAS BORN TO WORK RETAIL

Here's the thing. I'm not sure if I'm siging the "I Was Born To Work Retail" WEBTOONS contract anymore.

After an entire month on going back and forth with my lawyer, I've found out in some terms in the contract that the a part of IWBTWR would be tied to Webtoons forever if I signed the contract. There are also a lot of clauses in the contract that I'm unable to disclose but I'm incredibly unhappy about as well. So I decided rather than have IWBTWR be a Webtoons property, I would host the comic myself instead.

What this means for the future of the comic is that the comic will continue posting on WEBTTONS CANVAS and Twitter and nothing has changed. Now it's time to find another proper home for the comic. Sorry about disapointing everyone with the news.

Currently IWBTWR will focus on more down to earth slice of life comics before going into more grander plot points. I'm trying to get into a system where I could flesh out the world more with some filler episodes of Jenny and the gang messing around in the shop. After a couple of these short comics, I would shift back into more deep and meaningful stories as a sort of anchor for the whole comic.

As things ramp up in intensity, these small filler comics would help soften the miserable story plots I'm about to tell lmao.

LIMITED EDITION CHOCOLATE was the first one of these comics, no grand plot points, just Jenny helping out an old woman and her grandson.

Got 5 more of these lined up before the massive slow burn continues!

Please give your thoughts if this Webtoons decision is right. I'm conflicted about it myself, unless the WEBTOONS team is willing to negotiate on not outright buying the IP.

See you all in the next update :) thank you again.

Essentially, are you willing to sacrifice creative liberty and autonomy for financial security? Personally, I took a liking into drawing for therapeutic reasons as it was a way to deal with the constant barrage of bullshit everyday. I don't know what the terms of Webtoons was but if it meant turning one of my few outlets of relaxation into another tedious chore that I would dread then absolutely not. However, everyone's' circumstances are different. If you're confident that the comic will still showcase the same level of love and effort you've put in, even years from now. Then no matter what you decide upon, you'll still have an audience that's awaiting the next chapter of your work. <3
