The Sixth Sense is so famous for it's twist ending that, as someone who had never seen it before, i think it's regrettably stopped being famous for being really good. It's really good! Malcolm Crowe is a successful and respected child psychologist, until one night an old patient, still suffering, breaks into his home and attacks him, shaking his confidence and ruining his marriage. A year later, he's found another boy, very much like the one he failed, and he's determined to get it right this time. But if you can believe it, not everything is as it seems.

I love FATT and have always felt like whatever cast combination comes out with an episode always works. That said, I could feel Dre’s absence in this episode about a movie about a therapist. Not a complaint so much as a missed opportunity, as I would have loved to hear their thoughts on the depiction of therapy in this movie.

2025-09-16 15:01:16 +0000 UTCi was spoiled on the ending of this movie as a kid, by a television show that did like "top 10 best..." and that episode was like "top 10 movie twists" Real rude of them to do that as a show when i was an impressionable kid who thought "cool! I'll never watch these movies so this is fine". (Esp bc i thought Sixth Sense looked spooky scary)

2025-08-19 23:41:00 +0000 UTCOne thing it took me a bit longer to pick up on was that Malcolm *doesn't know* he's a ghost. Seeing him looking down sadly at his wife asleep, it felt like maybe he knew he was dead and he was just trying to help this kid anyway because that's all he's got left; I think it wasn't until the scene in the restaurant that I was sure he thought he was still alive.

2025-08-17 00:40:45 +0000 UTCI'd never seen any Shyamalan movies before, and I'm having a great time so far! I came into this movie knowing 1. Shyamalan is big on twist endings, and 2. when I was looking for where to watch it, I saw a short blurb in the search results saying that it's about a boy who can see ghosts. Based on that, as soon as we flashed forward from Malcolm getting shot, I was immediately considering the possibility that he might be dead and a ghost the whole time, and I started watching out to see if he ever properly interacts with anyone other than Cole. As soon as he comes home from his first meeting with Cole and sits on the bed next to his wife, I was pretty much certain, and it was fun seeing all the clever ways the movie sets things up to keep it hidden. I was maybe already in the right mindset for picking up on it – I've been rewatching Kino's Journey lately with some friends, and I was trying to work out whether Hermes the motorcycle can actually talk or whether they're just in Kino's head, so "who's actually hearing and responding to who" was already something I'd gotten in the habit of looking out for. I'm curious how it would've gone if I'd managed to avoid learning the premise; I think I still would've caught on pretty early, but who knows. I'm going into Unbreakable completely blind, so I'm excited to see how that goes and to hear you all go over it!

2025-08-17 00:37:42 +0000 UTCI am also one of the people who somehow knew nothing about this film, especially not the twist, aside from the famous line that got riffed on. I'm so glad I heeded Art's warning to pause and watch it before coming back! I do think Keith's confirmation bias is strong - I could figure out the twist like Art did but all those clues are much more obvious when you know what they're pointing to. I really appreciate the opportunity to hear you all pick through a film after watching it and I can't wait for more!
