How to use Node Hair (Feb 2025 Update)-Eng Ver.
Added 2025-02-20 07:49:45 +0000 UTC💡 Check before you start!
1. All hairs labeled as "Node Hair" are Blender-exclusive.
These cannot be used in The Sims game.
The thumbnail, preview before purchase, and this month’s CC preview are labeled as “Not for game, Only Blender!”, Please check before purchasing.

Only for Blender and cannot be used in the game!
2. Even if you have no prior Blender knowledge, you can follow along using the images.
Please read slowly and carefully.
If you still don’t understand after reading, I recommend learning some basic Blender knowledge online before using it!
3. Works properly on Blender 4.2 and above.
All HSB Collab Hair released in December 2024 and all Node Hair released in 2025 or later were created in Blender 4.2.
Previous hairs (supporting 3.6) will still work, but Node Hair created in 4.2 will only function properly on 4.2 or higher.
Future hairs will also be created in 4.2+, so I recommend upgrading your Blender version.
(Blender 4.2+ also has better rendering quality! 😀)
📌 Let’s get started!
1. Open Blender
1) Open Blender and import the Sim you want to render.
2) Open a new Blender window and load Hezeh Node Hair.
Once the file opens, it will look like this. ( Hezeh Node F Hair #11_V1 )

2. Understanding the Collection Structure
In Collection 1, you will find:
1_F Mannequin
2_Shadow Scalp
If accessories are included, the Scalp and ACC (Accessory) are parent-child linked, meaning adjusting the Scalp will move the accessories together.
If there are no accessories, simply follow the same steps below.
💡 ✅ What is Shadow Scalp?
A scalp added to create a natural hair density effect.
It fills in some of the gaps between hair strands for a smoother look.
Do not turn off the camera when rendering—keep it visible!
(It is enabled by default, so no extra steps are needed.)

3. Copy & Paste the Hair
1) Right-click 2_Shadow Scalp → Select Hierarchy → Press Ctrl+C (Copy).

2) Switch to your Sim’s Blender file → Right-click in the Outliner to create a New Collection → Press Ctrl+V (Paste).

3) Turn off all eye icons in the layers, then adjust the position & size of the Scalp to fit your Sim.

Move: G (GX - Move on X-axis, GY - Move on Y-axis, GZ - Move on Z-axis)
Scale: S (SX - Scale X-axis, SY - Scale Y-axis, SZ - Scale Z-axis)
4) Once adjustments are done, turn on all eye icons.

4. Adjust Rendering Settings
1) Go to Render Properties → Curves → Set Strip and Additional Subdivision to 3.

2) With 2_Shadow Scalp selected → Go to Constraints Tab → In Bones, select ‘rig’ → Click the bone icon → Set to b_Head.

Now the hair will move along with the pose!
5. Changing Hair Colors
1) Changing the Hair Texture
One-tone → Connect Noise - Color Ramp’s Color to Mix node B

Two-tone → Connect Color Ramp’s Color to Mix node B

Adding more colors → Click + to add and customize more colors.

2) Changing the Shadow Scalp Color
Turn off all eye icons in the layers → Select 2_Shadow Scalp → Open Shader Editor Tab.
Adjust the color as shown in the image.

6. Other: Tips for using Shadow Scalp!
💡 Useful when short hairstyles don’t fit your Sim’s head properly.
✅ For medium to long hair
No extra adjustments needed—just follow the standard steps.
Adjusting the crown area may distort the hairline, so additional changes are not recommended.
✅ For short hair
The scalp may show through, so Shrinkwrap Modifier is recommended.
This tip is specifically for short hairstyles!
[Example] Fixing Short Hair Fit
I pasted my hair, with some short hair, onto the default sim provided by EA. ( Hezeh Node Hair M #10 )
and roughly adjust the size.
Notice how the X-axis doesn’t align properly?
If left as is, the scalp will be exposed through the hair. ⬇

You could manually adjust each vertex in Edit Mode, but there’s a much easier method!
[Fixing Short Hair Using Shrinkwrap Modifier]
1) Turn off all eye icons → Select the scalp → Modifiers → Add Modifier → Deform → Shrinkwrap.

2)Adjust settings:
Snap Mode: On Surface / Target: head or rig(Your sims's head part)
Offset value → 0.001 - 0.002

If the scalp distorts too much, try:
Snap Mode → Outside / Offset value → 0.0005 - 0.0008

The Sim's head shape and the hair's scalp are mostly aligned, but some areas of the scalp are still visible.

Do not Apply Shrinkwrap yet!
Go to Edit Mode, adjust a few vertices manually.
3) Adjusting Vertex in Edit Mode
Turn on On Cage in Shrinkwrap, enable Proportional Editing, and change Transformation Orientation to Normal for easier edits. But it's optional.

Pull or push vertices slightly—since the modifier is active, the shape will snap into place!

Now, the Sim's head shape and the hair's scalp are perfectly aligned.
4) Finalizing the Fix
Turn on all hair strand eye icons.
Ensure the hair sits properly over the scalp without sinking in.
Apply Shrinkwrap!

✅ Now, short hair perfectly fits your Sim! 🎉
✅ This method works not just for my hairs, but for any short hair you use! I’m also planning to release short hair soon🤣
