The Rabbit Plush Dress
Added 2019-01-15 01:02:02 +0000 UTC
Dear Insane Children,
I woke this morning to find a gift from Omri waiting in my inbox!
Behold The Plush Dress!
This is his design proposal for the DLC Dress we'd give to Plush Rabbit owners in Alice: Asylum.
What do you think?
A couple of things to discuss:
First, I like this dress. But what I had in mind was a "onesie" sorta like this...

There are a few reasons I think this might be the way to go... For one, it's a costume literally anyone can pull off - girls and boys. It's something I can easily mass produce and offer for sale at Mysterious. It can double as real-world pajamas - a practical use!
But those are the real-world rationales...
In-game, I think the onesie idea fits better with my image of young Alice sometimes wanting to hide, blend in, or call less attention to herself. In a broken Wonderland, who is going to notice a bedraggled looking little rabbit scurrying around in the shadows? The Plush Dress (onesie) might be Alice's ultimate stealth outfit... She doesn't just seek comfort from her plush bunny... but is comforted by becoming her plush bunny.
Then again, we could have both. The dress as seen above - and with a button-press that dress transforms into the onesie.
Thoughts?
Second thing to consider is accessibility of this DLC to those who don't own the physical Rabbit Plush. Is it a bad thing to say, "In order to acquire this Rabbit Plush in-game you must first acquire the physical Rabbit Plush in the real world?" Is that very different from a DLC dress which you pay to download?
I am not on one side or the other of this topic. In fact, I think the whole topic is a bit of a minefield. Which is why I'm asking that we discuss it now and then decide the best way to present this.
What are you ideas on how we might link the White Rabbit Plush doll with the in-game dress?
I look forward to your suggestions and ideas in the comments below!

I'm glad we get to have the Rabbit dress in game but can I get one to wear in real life too? Please, along with the onesie :)

If the goal is met before end of this month and you pay on the 1st of Feb then you get a rabbit.

I prefer this dress over the onesie!
2019-01-16 06:56:32 +0000 UTC
I think the dress is beautiful. Especially the shoes! If we could have both - run around kicking things in the dress, then button press, and scurry off into the shadows as a harmless bunny - there would be some awesome tense and potentially game-ending sequences (say, if we didn't poof Alice from dress into onesie and back again quick enough and got caught). Is it too much to ask for both?? Lastly, I don't think it's too much to limit the dress/onesie to a plush-bunny-purchase only, personally. It's no different than paying straight for a DLC, and might even be considered more fun because we get the plush TOO.

So the thing says you have to be a patron for a month, but I just signed up this month and it's not going to charge me until February 1st. Will I still be able to get the rabbit if it comes out before then? Thanks.

I'm down for that. SO DOWN!

Love the dress though the ears throw me a bit off since they seem a bit heavy and not really attached in a way that could support them. Someone on Instagram mentioned either a headband or a bonnet with the ears attached. I do love the idea of a onesie! Maybe the dress as a DLC but the onesie is exclusive for buying the plush?
2019-01-15 18:22:27 +0000 UTC
To be honest, I have no intention of buying the plush rabbit, not even to get a bonus dress in the game. Teddy bears just aren't my sort of thing, and this isn't something I could easily offer as a gift to a young relative, unless they're "in the know", about why it's so beat up in the first place. Also, when the game is released it will vex many purchasers that there are things they won't have access to because they didn't do this or that when they weren't even aware the game existed

I think the dress (amazing desing by the way) would fit better to the other outfits then a onesie (am I the only one never heard this word before?) otherwise this DLC skin should be something special.
To the accessibility point. In my opinion it should be bound to the plush at least for some time, it could be a "normal" DLC after a few years so people who cant get new plushes can get this dress anymore.

Options are always good.
2019-01-15 16:04:50 +0000 UTC
I love the The Plush Dress idea however...
SUGGESTION: If you make this the “ultimate stealth dress” I fell to avoid a pay to win concept add a handicap of some sort. Something not necessarily bad, but something that we have to learn and may make something else slightly annoying or harder.
Let’s stay waaayy away from any pay to win concepts
2019-01-15 16:04:08 +0000 UTC
I agree that a Kickstarter exclusive dress and/or a Pre-Order incentive dress would nice a great idea!
SUGGESTION: If so how about make it a community project? I think that would be awesome.
2019-01-15 15:54:40 +0000 UTC
Something feels very off about this dress. Many are commenting on the ears looking to much like mushrooms and sadly I have to agree. This feels much like a W.I.P. .
SUGGESTION: Perhaps a lighter (a drop of floppy) 2.0 version of “Late But Lucky”, but loss the uniform look ..something more cheerful and free. I also think (because it’s to remind us of a special milestone) it should have a drop (just a drop) of corkyness to it, something that makes us smile no matter where in the game we are. A pink oval belly patch maybe? 😅

Games do have promotional DLC like that sometimes, like "Preorder here and get this exclusive", or with Friday The 13th and the Savini Jason you could only get it from supporting their kickstarter. It happens and I'm 100% on board with having to do more than just click and button and give a buck or two for something special.
2019-01-15 15:32:13 +0000 UTC
You won the rabbit during last stream. Your wallet is just pointing out that you obtained the DLC for free too.

I love this dress so much! it's really pretty and cute but also still has that classic Alice creepy vibe to it, the only thing I would personally change is maybe the ears be a little thinner (but only a tiny bit thinner) I also am not a huge fan of how the design on her back makes it look like the bunny tail has ears, I get that it maybe is to do with the reoccurring look of her having a skull on the back of her dresses and if that's the case maybe add a loose hanging button on the bunny tail to make it look like a falling out plush eye?

the dress is unique amazing
2019-01-15 14:19:35 +0000 UTC
Serial Experiments Lane was very much inspired by Alice in Wonderland too so I also had a onesie in mind. But this dress looks great!
"Ultimate stealth dress" as a DLC sounds a lot like pay to win. But I can't say enough how much I want multiple stealth outfits. So I'd say Omri's dress as a DLC, onsesie for everybody.
Make Nine Inch Nails great again

I love the dress and the idea of having both options as you mentioned.
2019-01-15 12:25:49 +0000 UTC
Beautiful, I think it would be great if the people who get the Rabbit Plush get some exclusive stuff, it wouldn't be special if everyone could buy it later on!

I love the dress! It's aesthetically matching whilst still bringing that 'Childhood' sense to the story. I think the colours that would really bring it to life is "vanilla white", giving it a bit of that old London feeling as well.
On that note, whilst a onesie is cute, it's way too modern in my opinion. It would clash strangely to the aesthetic :)
2019-01-15 10:39:48 +0000 UTC
Oh my god this dress is so cute 😍 I love it 💗
2019-01-15 10:13:50 +0000 UTC
I think like many have mentioned the whole alter it somehow could work then offer a dlc version as well. Can't please everyone, instead of altering the dress maybe the ability to flip back and forth between the dress and onsie can be unique to the people who have the rabbit and Just give the plain dress as dlc maybe. Or if that's all too much one could somehow skin the stuffed rabbit in place of some weapon and shoot something with a stuffed bunny or something. I guess we had the clock bomb bunny already, I don't know haha I am happy with whatever is decided. I am willing to get that stuffed bunny either way.
2019-01-15 09:46:26 +0000 UTC
I like the idea of people who own the white rabbit plush getting a unique dress/outfit. I also like one of the ideas I saw in the comments where people who buy DLC could get the outfit, but in a different colour.
I'm not a fan of the 'plush dress' design. I would much prefer to have a 'onesie' so I could match the Rabbit plush.
I like the look of the torso of the 'plush dress' and the boots. The skirt and sleeves just look out of place to me. The head piece also looks too big. If the ears were thinner I think it would look great.

I don't really like the look of this dress, it's too top heavy, and the ears remind me more of a mushroom. I think the skirt should be wider and have more fluff. As for accessibility, I think we should be able to buy it digitally without buying the plush, if only because for some people shipping drastically increases the plush's actual price.

Unpopular opinion, but I am not a huge fan of the dress, especially the head piece. I think the idea of a onesie would better fit with the game and the story so far.

I think the dress is amazing. But then I read the rest of the post and I prefer the onesie idea in-game. Alice sneaking about, hood up head down, in a slightly dirty about the ankles bunny onesie fits so well. With DLC people do expect varients that only some people have, you get a lot of special additions with something nobody else can have. If you offer an option for those without a rabbit to be able to pay for it could be a different colour, although as white rabbit is part of the story would a non white version work, or is different in some other way. I just think if you offer the exact same perk as payable DLC you detract slightly from the specialness of owning it due to the rabbit plush perk
2019-01-15 07:02:32 +0000 UTC
I love the 'plush dress' design, but I think I'd prefer the 'onesie'.
2019-01-15 06:26:32 +0000 UTC
id like the ability to buy the DLC on it's own. I'm not really interested in the rabbit but i like to have every scrap of game content possible.

I'm really adoring the rabbit-dress design so far! Captures the style of the entire game. I am with what was said in the description. Paying for a real-life plush and getting a unique in-game dress is a brilliant idea; as the plush is an optional luxury. That makes it that much more exciting and special to own. People who don't acquire the plush will have other options to choose from.
2019-01-15 05:11:56 +0000 UTC
Unfortunately I do not like this dress. I think the ears are too big. When I saw the image my first thought was flower hat. I do like the onesie idea, I was thinking very ragged and dirty footie pajamas. “Where the wild things are” with the claws would be cool. Can’t wait to see more :)
2019-01-15 05:00:12 +0000 UTC
I love the idea of matching in game Alice so much! Particularly if the onsie was super cool and creepy.. Maybe something like it auto switches her into the onsie during fights or sneaking?
2019-01-15 03:59:45 +0000 UTC
I like them both but if I were to do a bunny onesie I would go with a reference to Ralphie’s from A Christmas Story....
2019-01-15 03:13:30 +0000 UTC
Maybe have it to where anyone can get the DLC rabbit costume but those who have the rabbit in RL can maybe have three color options for or something to make it stand out more. Maybe the eye-patch, or a weapon that looks like a bunny.

As long as everyone can buy the DLC at a reasonable price, I have absolutely no issues against tying the rabbit plush dress to the plush rabbit reward. As for the dress design, I absolutely love it.
While I do see your logic about the onesie design, I can't really picture it looking anywhere as cool as this concept art ^^'

Rabbit onesie would be cute and cool for stealthing but the dress is too awesome to give up! x_x I think being able to switch to onesie when entering stealth mode will be very cool!

I think the rabbit dress can be available both as its own DLC and also a bonus that comes with getting the rabbit plush, but the one that’s a bonus with the plush can look a bit different from the DLC one! I feel like in this way new players aren’t completely missing out on a rabbit dress, and people who have the rabbit plush can still get something that’s special

I LOVE the onesie idea! I love the idea of being able to wear the onesie, and match Alice in-game. I am all for your thoughts behind it, too. I think many of us have felt that way or desired that same thing at some point or another in our lives. While the dress is great, I am all for the onesie idea- especially if the hood of the onesie has the button eye/ burn patch & missing eye!
2019-01-15 01:43:05 +0000 UTC
Id happily buy a rabbit with bonus in-game content
2019-01-15 01:41:03 +0000 UTC
I love the onesie idea! I'd love to be able to match Alice as I play through the game, but I also adore that dress design. I like the idea of being able to switch back and forth. Maybe switching into the onesie could increase her stealth, like crouching in other games?

SUGGESTION: I think you could do both, have the dress as a DLC for a cheaper price when the game is released and also include the dress with the stuffed rabbit as a sort of "bundle pack." Win-win right?
