4K Mavic Pro Over Guangxi, China

Dear Insane Children,

I recently traveled from Shanghai to Guangxi, China - landing in Guilin and then making my way by river ferry to Yangshuo. You can check out the things I saw along the way in this travel log video on YouTube.

During the trip I captured a lot of footage with my Mavic Pro and decided to edit that together into 8 minutes of 4k video goodness. The music in this video is "Koto" from Clozee and you can also grab it on YouTube.

Now... as I am getting ready to publish this post I can't seem to get the video to actually play in 4K on YouTube - but that's very likely because I am in China on a really slow Internet connection... let me know in the comments below if you see 4K (or anything higher than 360p) as a quality option. If not I can try another upload or something...

During the summer I plan to travel around China a bit - it's not a great time for sailing in Thailand due it being the Southeast Monsoon. Trying to figure out a couple of places to visit... are there places you've always wanted to see in China? Let's make a list and I'll pick a top suggestion and head there to capture some adventure. Yeah?

Look forward to your feedback and suggestions in the comments below.

Oh... the Chaos Coin design came in while I was gone... and I think there's some new art from Joey here as well... Hmmm... all in the next update! :P

Gorgeous!

Have you been to Zhangjiajie? The nature there is amazing, it's very touristy though! I will personally be visiting Chengdu and Zhangjiajie this summer, and will also be doing a Yangtze river cruise :)

Just for Anthony, as requested previously... Martin playing God of War :D youtube.com/watch?v=MeotybdWGcg

I had never seen mountains like this. Very nice!

Hakka walled villages would be a fun place to fly your drone. But this is not what you should be the most concerned about on a birthday trip :D

Make Nine Inch Nails great again

I got to watch the 4K goodness. Dear gods... it is beautiful. Pick up some new eyeballs for me too, please? I think it may just have been a rendering thing Youtube does. The higher quality options become available later once it's done being optimized on Youtube's servers. I too am interested in the Great Wall. Or the Summer Palace. Maybe the Forbidden City? They all seem really cool.

It's actually pretty cool... if for no other reason just due to scale. The place is massive and can take quite a while to walk around and see it all. Beijing is, in general, a pretty cool city when it comes to the things you can see and do inside the city itself (such as Forbidden City). I'm trying to find far-flung places I can travel to on my own... places that are a bit more off the beaten path.

I've been to the Great Wall outside of Beijing and it was "OK" ... never been to the Terracotta` warriors but I've heard the whole setup is actually a big letdown. Apparently not a very good presentation and after you've seen one terracotta warrior, you've seen them all. Dunno... not super high on my list... but we'l add the suggestion to the list anyway :) I do think Yan and I are planning to go out towards Chengdu, Sichuan ... for her birthday trip sometime in June. So we may end up stopping by and seeing this anyway.

If you come across some earballs in your search for eyeballs, let me know! I preemptively need some. The highest quality option I get is 1080p. Looks gorgeous. Perhaps a bit turisty clichΓ©, but I'd really like to see The Great Wall and/or The Terracotta Army.

Oooh can't wait for new art!!! I've always wanted to visit the forbidden city in ChinaπŸ’“ it seems so mysterious and beautiful and peaceful there 😍

Btw, it seems like "higher quality may not be available on newly uploaded videos" (per YouTube) so I think we're just waiting a while for the 4k option to arrive. When it does... wow. We watched it on the 4k projector last night and my eyeballs exploded. Woo! (Note to self: buy new eyeballs).
