Let's Play: American McGee's Alice!

We're going to play "American McGee's Alice" during the next YouTube live stream! We'll talk about conception and creation of the first game - from the initial pitch to the final frantic months of development.

Progress is being made on the embroidered patches. The patch designs themselves are "done" but a few are being re-worked for materials and stitching... we might have a few of them produced as rubber patches. Samples will be shared via the next live stream. The background card on which they'll ship is also taking shape (at least in terms of dimensions). Art treatment for that coming soon!
Not far now till we hit out 1000 Patron goal. Help spread the word. You don't want your friends to miss out on their awesome Alice reward!

What about the previous goal - the Inmate Certificate!? Well...
Behold the final design! These were delivered to the printers this morning. We'll pick them up tomorrow afternoon - and then begins an epic autographing marathon. After that they'll be sent to Hong Kong where our logistics partner will package them up and send them to YOU! (Where YOU = those of you who were with us when we hit out 555 goal).
Expect some beautiful new Asylum art in the next update. Don't be late!

Or is it that we are so insane that we don't need anything written? Can't wait to see you play the first game! Now some questions about the game. Before American McGee's Alice existed, what was your thought process on coming up with this game idea? Like you had a dream one night, and you decided to turn your dream into a game? Or was the game a representation of your weird ass fuck childhood? Did you ever imagine your Alice adaptation to be this popular? How did you feel when it became very popular?

2018-03-21 05:38:45 +0000 UTCWow...the cover image of this post is actually the first thing I ever saw of the original game; it was either an issue of "Electronic Gaming Monthly" or "GamePro" that had a two page ad spread of the Hatter and Alice having tea with weapons drawn under the table and because I was silly I went "Nah, not for me!". Cut to ten years later "Madness Returns" is announced and I was instantly drawn in and desperate to play the original I missed...which I ended up having to "borrow" off the internet. I hope I can be forgiven for that act now! As for any questions about the game...how did you go from building levels to getting your own game? And how did you land on Alice as a source material, was it as simple as everyone had heard of it and it was in public domain?

Got stuck on a boss fight, rage quit and just never got around to giving it another go. The certificates look really awesome and I'm very eager for the patch goal to be reached! :D

I'm pretty sure I am but I'm just a little confused on how you'll be sending certificates and such. A link would be helpful since it would be a pain for you to try explaining that to me.

The second game was much more my style and I also found myself playing it over and over. Mostly because I'm an achievement whore so ofc I needed to find everything to get my 100%. The certificates look amazing. I'm glad you changed the warden name part. Looking forward to the patches and hey if you do some in rubber, would it be possible to make them into a Keychain?

By the way, I love the embroidered patches, love that cute style and the hysteria one, it´s a pity I didn´t reach to get the asylum certificate because it looks so insanely awesome, darn it! Looking forward to see you play your first Alice game & let us all see how you fare. ;) The certificates are stunning! Will you be writing something in the Case Notes section, or is that also for us to write our own? Feedback from the game, let's see... I hate the flying Boojum so, so much... They're so squirmy! They deal so much damage & their screeches... Oh, my... Shut. Up. Haha. Overall, I still enjoyed it. Madness Returns is still my favorite, at least... 'till Asylum releases. ;)

2018-03-20 07:31:58 +0000 UTCTechnically "the longest" is "as long as it takes" ... but on average we see things delivered in ~4 weeks to most locations around the world. If you live on an island in the middle of the ocean - upwards of 2 months. There will be tracking numbers assigned and those might get sent out automatically. If not, you could write and ask us for them, but please try to refrain from that unless it's like a life-threatening emergency or something ;)
