Would you pay for pixeldrain if it was more expensive?
Added 2022-10-27 15:25:30 +0000 UTCThis year my Patreon page has been growing incredibly fast. But expenses have been growing too. Now a few of my hosting providers have announced they are raising prices because of the electricity crisis in Europe. I would eventually like to work on pixeldrain full time but to do that the project would need to generate at least €2000 per month in profit.
With all that in mind I am considering making the €4 tier the cheapest tier. I want to keep the €2 around for people who are already subscribed, but new users would have to pay €4.
I am inclined to just try it out for a month or so, if the growth slows down significantly during this period I would know that it's not worth it. But if growth slows down very little that would be a strong indicator that pixeldrain is, in fact, too cheap.
Now my question is: Would you have paid for pixeldrain if it cost €4 instead of €2?
I would love to hear your opinions and ideas!

Instead of charging more you should add a tip mechanism

2022-11-01 22:17:22 +0000 UTCIt's done. I was not sure where to put the setting, so I put it here: https://pixeldrain.com/user/sharing/bandwidth

2022-10-27 22:17:12 +0000 UTCI honestly am likely not going to be using it much longer because the place I was using it all the time to download uploaded files from others unfortunately is going the way of greed and isn't uploading to pixeldrain anymore and the only options are direct pay, torrents, and zippyshare which itself is a frustrating mess to make people want to pay. They used to upload everything to pixeldrain. Sorry for the tangent, but that is to say there's nothing wrong with your service and I've been happy while I've used it. The pricing is fair for a service of this kind. I also pay for mega and the pricing is comparable so I think you're okay to adjust as needed.

2022-10-27 21:59:32 +0000 UTCI would pay more if it had direct download instead of having to press the download button every time. But compared to ever increasing prices of uptobox and others pixeldrain is still very cheap

2022-10-27 19:36:30 +0000 UTCI don't use it enough to want to pay more.

2022-10-27 18:20:45 +0000 UTCI never hit the free bandwidth limit, but I'm happy to tip for a good service. That said, I would have thought twice at EUR 4.

2022-10-27 18:06:46 +0000 UTCThe product is excellent. Price it fairly so you can continue improving it. I see nothing wrong with pricing it in a sustainable way.

2022-10-27 16:45:43 +0000 UTCIn these uncertain economic times for, it seems, the vast majority of us at least, surely your only course of action is to try it out for a month or so and see in truth what priority your service holds within your prospective customers' plans regarding spending of disposable income, if indeed, as Raiden9286 indicates, they even (expect to) have any. I realise that relatively speaking we are talking "pennies" here, but we are given to believe (here in the UK at least) that it's the pennies that the majority of people will be counting going into the winter months. My comments will probably not, of course, necessarily be as definitive or imperative across the whole wide world. Only you can know that from your own demographic records.

2022-10-27 16:38:01 +0000 UTCBusinesses usually increase prices when user growth plateaus or even decline. As the act of rising prices itself will drive out small percentage of users, and affects new user growth (less new signups per month). But it can be offset by the overall revenue increase, at the expense of slowed growth. So unless you are seeing growth decline or unsustainable income/expenses ratio, I would be careful with price increase decision.

2022-10-27 16:03:48 +0000 UTCAs a student, I sadly can't afford more than €2 monthly. I would pay more if I had a steady source of income, and if the download speed would be guaranteed! :)
