Quick Question, Guys
Added 2024-05-08 23:28:28 +0000 UTCI finally got my computer back. So I promise to get back to your comments/messages tomorrow. But real quick question I have for you: how long is too long of a Youtube Q&A video? Mine as of now is around 25 minutes. I will be cutting it down, don't worry. But just wanted an idea of what you guys feel about it, on average. Will also help me consider length for reviews in the future. Thanks!

My opinion is more popular here than I expected. When it comes to people I enjoy listening to, I've always said the longer the better. Like someone mentioned before, I could always break it up. If I'm restricted to what a realistic block of time for one sit in: I'd say an hour to an hour and a half. A lot of factors can come into play tho. Some people are busier than others. Attentions spans vary, etc. Good idea starting this thread! 👍

2024-05-10 03:38:33 +0000 UTCIndeed, content consumption patterns, particularly among highly engaged audiences (HEAs), reveal a nuanced landscape. Even the most ardent supporters encounter temporal limitations and are susceptible to diversions away from their chosen platforms. By adopting a serialized approach akin to television series—as opposed to the extended format of films—you can parcel narratives into digestible and captivating segments. For deep focus pieces, the near-universal appeal of the 50-minute mark, slightly shy of a full hour, caters to viewers’ preferences for immersive experiences without overstepping the bounds of their hectic schedules. This equilibrium not only sustains high levels of engagement but also honors the time-honored viewing habits ingrained in our collective consciousness, all while navigating the modern maze of constant, glittering distractions and societal upheavals. Simple: short and sweet for content prime for serialization and dig deep for longer essays.

2024-05-09 17:09:35 +0000 UTCAdmittedly it's been a minute since I've seen one of your Q@As. I would watch it regardless of length.

2024-05-09 15:42:11 +0000 UTCPretty much everything has been said. You can get away with having a longer Q&A video because it’s more meant for fans anyway. And any viewer on YouTube can watch a long video at his or her own pace. Just so long as things don’t get tedious, but I think you have a good instinct for editing that out.

2024-05-09 15:33:43 +0000 UTCI don’t mind longer videos actually.

2024-05-09 11:54:23 +0000 UTCI'd say 30 minutes would be the ceiling for me. You're the only one whose Q&A videos I watch so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

2024-05-09 11:39:23 +0000 UTCIn general for reviews I guess the 10-15 minute range is most appealing. For Q&A type stuff I'd say 15-20 minutes, but if it is all good stuff and longer then I'd just spilt it into 2 parts.

2024-05-09 08:39:34 +0000 UTCMost of the podcasts I listen to are 2 hours long. The longer the better for me.

2024-05-08 23:53:31 +0000 UTCPersonally I think 30 minutes is the perfect length for a Q&A video

2024-05-08 23:46:30 +0000 UTCI second Patrick n Bill above. There’s really no standard. For certain YouTubers Ive seen them go over an hour and some might stop at like 10 minutes. Just go with what feels right.

2024-05-08 23:46:29 +0000 UTCI prefer long form content. It hits kinda like a de facto podcast! I also feel like the audience is “built” for longer content. They’re used to +15 minute videos from you. So I feel like most people wouldn’t mind the Q&A videos going on for a long while. Plus, we are here for your thoughts! We all dig the way you think, the way you dissect and connect things. The more the better.

2024-05-08 23:43:46 +0000 UTCIf it helps if it’s over 20 minutes, then I would just watch it in parts. Honestly even if it was an hour that would be perfectly fine.

2024-05-08 23:40:13 +0000 UTCQ&As go longer than a regular one from what I've noiced. Just go with your gut. You seem to have a good grasp the rest of your videos. You say what you need to say then dip out. You don't drag shit out, which I appreciate. Always to the point with great insight.

2024-05-08 23:39:27 +0000 UTCI don't think a Q&A can be "too long" as long as there are timestamps in place so we can navigate from question to question.

2024-05-08 23:38:44 +0000 UTCI’m for answering as many comments as possible. So, the longer the better.

2024-05-08 23:36:58 +0000 UTCIn marketing lingo, the Q&A is a product for high engagement audience members. Long videos are only successful if you anticipate high engagement, but the only people who would watch it (subscribers) are high engagement. in short, there's no length limit
