SALTBURN Spoilers Ahead
Added 2023-11-23 03:57:32 +0000 UTCFor those who have seen it...I think two huge things would've helped this film monumentally. One: Do not withhold Oliver's intentions with Saltburn estate from the audience until the third act. Reveal it in the first half. Delaying that information only reduces the thematic meaning overall, and the final revelation there feels cheap/flimsy as a result. Two: build the tension between Oliver and Phoenix rather than revealing Oliver's affection from the onset. This way you give Oliver somewhere to go psychologically, so far as revealing his real weaknesses that hinder his greater ambitions. But what do ya'll think?

Lol. Also it’s interesting how Saltburn alludes to The Shining a lot, yet Keoghan’s performance is the complete opposite of how Nicholson portrayed Jack Torrance. Nicholas seems mentally unbalanced from very beginning.

2023-11-28 01:22:23 +0000 UTCI really feel like withholding the information about Oliver is a really cheap ploy. It doesn't really serve anything. Knowing his motives more, or seeing them shape with more conviction, would help in all the ways I feel the film is lacking. And it would be in the films best interest, to explore Oliver and his weakness personified by Felix. The one character who is Oliver's kryptonite, and yet none of that is really fully formed either. It's an incredibly lopsided film. Yet...I really wanna see it again. Despite all my frustrations with Fennell...I can't deny that she intrigues me. But...she also a mess lol

2023-11-27 23:34:05 +0000 UTCI always found his character in Euphoria to be less interesting. But he convinced me as Elvis in Priscilla. And again, he is great in Saltburn.

2023-11-23 06:25:53 +0000 UTCI’ll definitely be watching it as soon as I can. I recently watched all of Euphoria and Jacob Elordi does a fantastic job in that and it made me want to check out his other work. And of course Barry has had my interest since Killing of a Sacred Deer.

2023-11-23 05:55:13 +0000 UTCah yeah, okay. Thought that might be the one. I'd recommend it in the sense that, it's polarizing. So I'm just curious to the reaction. You might hate it. Part of you might admire it. It's weird.

2023-11-23 05:45:23 +0000 UTCApparently there’s a scene where Barry Keoghan’s character licks up c*m in a bathtub and that’s what people were freaking out about on Twitter. So I was wondering if it was just in there so people would be shocked or not. And do you recommend the film overall?

2023-11-23 05:43:50 +0000 UTCNone of the movie make sense. It’s the definition of pretentious

2023-11-23 05:14:06 +0000 UTCdefinitely a pale imitation of a lot of things. But..it had something that interested me, in the same breath.

2023-11-23 05:02:45 +0000 UTCIt feels like a pale imitation of “6 degrees of separation”

2023-11-23 05:02:07 +0000 UTCI would definitely say its daring...but not with true conviction.

2023-11-23 04:59:31 +0000 UTCI keep hearing about that too but...there are several bathtub scenes, so I guess I'm not sure which one they are referring to.

2023-11-23 04:59:02 +0000 UTCBiggest disappointment almost of the whole year. I had high hopes for the film and thought it would really be different and a little daring. In LA it’s movie poster La really stand out from all the other movie posters here. Wish the film carried the same distinctness. 😒

2023-11-23 04:01:33 +0000 UTCI haven’t seen it yet but I’ve been hearing about that bathtub scene on Twitter. I wonder if it actually makes sense in the film or if it’s in there just for the sake of being shocking. I saw an article that referred to Emerald Fennell as a “provocateur” and whenever I hear that word I always wonder if the filmmaker told them to use it because it makes them sound brave.
