Watch Party Poll

Alright ladies and gents. I've got it narrowed down to a few films for the next party. Time and date still to be determined. But will likely fall on a Sunday or Monday night, whenever we do it. Feel free to add your thoughts!

I love the film as well. It's a favorite of mine. :)

I've always preferred Black Narcissus to the Red Shoes, even though Red Shoes may be the superior film - but only just. The ballet 'dream' sequence in Red Shoes is classic, but Black Narcissus shows the character's descent into madness gradually and more realistically, I feel, although it does use a couple flashbacks. It's actually a perfect example of how a film should use flashbacks. Most movie flashbacks feel like an unwelcome interruption, but Deborah Kerr's first flashback in Black Narcissus actually peaked my interest.

All fantastic choices but Vertigo is something else. I never thought Jimmy Stewart could be so terrifying. Even after everything is revealed, that finale always has me scared for Kim Novak. One of the very few films that actually scares me.

Wolfman Brandon

"Mulholland Drive" all the way. Looking forward to your commentary!

Trevor Lisa

Awesome choices. I’m voting for the one with sinister cowboys and lip-syncing nightclubs. Lynch’s weirdness might make for the best collective experience. Whichever one gets picked, I’m looking forward to it. :)

Bennett Oliver

It's a wonderful film. And yes, visually astounding.

I voted for the red shoes, I see more in in the red shoes than I used too, it reminds me of both cabinet of doctor calligari, black swan and even Suspiria it sits nicely in with this these themes and styles. The common thread with the three movies chosen seems to be obbesion (Calvin Kline)

Enjoy all three to varying degrees. Mulholland Dr and Vertigo are undisputed masterpieces, with Vertigo being a lock somewhere in my all time top 10. The Red Shoes I’ve only seen once and thought was good but didn’t quite see it as the masterwork many have claimed it to be. With that said their are virtuoso aspects to it like that 30 minute sequence you’ve mentioned. Definitely needs a second viewing from me. Side note: Can’t believe they’re remaking Vertigo with Downey Jr starring and Steven Knight writing and directing. I dont see it being Psycho (1998) bad but likely very dull and pointless. We have modern day movies like Phoenix and Decision to Leave that are close enough as it is.

All great choices but probably The Red Shoes

Jackson Littlewood

Was hoping ya'll would be.
