Here it is. The Turning Point.
I don't really have much to say about the creation of this strip. I think it just seemed like a funny idea and I went with it. Landing on "smorgasbord" may've taken a few attempts. I can't recall what other words I considered, though.
However, like I mentioned above, this strip was the turning point. Leading up to this, the Tumblr--it was only posted on Tumblr at the beginning--was maybe around 100 or 200 followers, growing by maybe ten or twenty followers per post. I thought that was pretty remarkable, really.
"200 strangers like my work? That's wild!"
And then I posted this, and thinks went kind of nuts. Not INSANELY nuts, but I think I doubled my followers overnight. It was the response that really kicked me in the pants and made me think that I possibly had something here. These first nine strips were done strictly for fun, but after #9 took off, I started treating the work a bit more seriously, because hey, now I had fans and didn't want to let them down.
From such a simple little strip. Funny how that works.
