Silent Reading list #8

WDT (2016-07-06)

I said I was going to try for a holiday-themed recommendation, and I think you'll agree that by a certain twisted logic, I certainly almost might have managed.

I got to thinking about a Wednesday Downtown episode to suggest, because I haven't done one yet and it's certainly the show I've seen the most of at this point (it's the only one I watch(ed) raws for). There are a few obvious choices, but they're all clips, so I don't think I can make a proper recommendation with just one of those.

WDT (2017-02-22) - #1 Would Children Still Accept Presents from Santa If he Were a Scary Monster is excellent. Watching how kids handle stuff is always great entertainment. Scream santa and the rest are all hilarious and the kids are all super cute about it.

WDT (2020-02-12) - #1 Christmas Body Clock Challenge is also a great choice. Comedians are put in separate rooms with no access to any clocks or daylight or anything and are told to come out of the room in exactly 24 hours. I'll spoil it right now and tell you that the challenge gets significantly . . . modified a little bit into the episode and then things get really interesting.

This is a nice concept in general, which means that my true recommendation is the episode it showed up in first. Originally the concept was to get 4 people of different ages (from ~20 to ~80), tell them all to come out in exactly 24 hours, and see the order in which they do. The theory is that as you age, time seems to go faster, so the oldest person should come out first

The other three theories are also classics, so this is an easy recommendation! People on the street wearing tshirts with bands (or whatever other personages) on them are quizzed about them, and then eventually they actually drag some people into a quiz show studio and hit them with that.

A fun theory called Only superstars wear sunglasses at night! Is a fun diversion, and then everything is rounded out with The Japanese are overly cautious about avoiding the number 4 in buildings, which is one of those little cultural things that every society does to one degree or another, but it's fun to see how it manifests in Japan.

Happy holidays and see you next month where I will completely ignore anything seasonal since I used all my good material here ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Here are all of those files in a MEGA for you: https://mega.nz/folder/mlsCTJTI#tu3q6OUMwD7sQBaBgP65NQ

Can't go too wrong with any of them except for where they get really kuro-chan forward. Maybe I should do another few next time since there are so many.
