So, historically, I couldn't stand Heipo. I didn't care for his character—which to me felt very one-dimensional. "Oh gee I sure like women and oh gosh I sure am afraidof things!" was pretty much his range, as far as what I knew from the stuff that had been translated.
However—these two episodes are super solid. The premise of both is that The World's Heipo has to spend some time with a comedian and their family. Initially he shows up as even more obnoxious than before, as he whines about everything: the kids, the dogs, even moaning about how long the shoot is going to take and what a pain in the ass it's going to be to get through it all.
Incredibly, you watch what seems like a genuine transformation of this nasty character into what's obviously a real person with a heart. Whether that's just him dropping the act and everything is predetermined or whether you get to see the real Hepio, it's brilliant TV.
Both episodes are excellently translated and typeset by Shion and Kedomas, and they're a great example of a format that we don't have any other examples of. If you've passed them up because they have "Heipo" in the title, give them a second look.
