New File Hosting Solution (Test)
Added 2023-09-19 10:24:51 +0000 UTCOK everyone, here we go! chikichiki.tube has been hard at work overhauling their own behind-the-scenes stuff, and also found the time to set up what we think could be a working file hosting solution. This is possible in no small part due to the people who donated to their SSD fund! Thanks folks, you're making a difference!
Now at the moment there is only one instance, and while we want to spread it around to a few different machines at some stage, we don't even know what the bandwidht requirements of the library are (MEGA never shared this with me). To that end, please try to use https://tsl.chikichiki.tube/ for your individual file downloading needs (please stick to the torrent for bulk stuff) and let's see how we get on.
It's very possible that this gets completely swamped and stops working, or that we have to take it down to work on something, or whatever; don't expect perfect performance just yet. If things go well and this seems viable, we'll install the same setup on a few different servers and try to set up some kind of fancy gateway that will send people to various mirrors to try and balance the load (I say "we" but I mean "the other people at the library who know how to do this stuff").

That's actually something we were considering doing if it was required! Thankfully this is getting hosted on private machines, so we aren't concerned with bandwidth cost as much as having enough throughput for everyone.

2023-09-20 19:27:07 +0000 UTCGot it! I do have a suggestion. Everything that you can torrent should not be on this new share server. That way, new library fans can torrent the library (as of whenever the last torrent update occurred) and then get the updates from this server as needed. Bandwidth traffic can get expensive.
