Right—anyone who knows me could've seen a Knight Scoop recommendation coming from a mile away. Here it is: the Knight Scoop recommendation.
Knight Scoop (full title Tantei Knight Scoop 探偵!ナイトスクープ) is an Asahi Broadcasting Corp show that's been airing since 1988. Episodes consist of ~5 segments, each one of which is ostensibly a viewer request of some sort. Usually this involves helping the person solve some kind of mystery, finding certain people, overcoming fears, that type of thing. They read out the letter in the studio with the whole panel, and then the detective who went out on location (usually along with the requester) will introduce the VTR. All of this is done with an incredible sense of humor and in a very... I guess you could call it an intentionally budget style. (FYI, the current chief detective is our very own Matsumoto Hitoshi.)
This request comes to us from 50yo Sakakibara Kiniko from Nara, who's been hearing noises of some huge beast living in her attic for the past year. Detective Ishida goes to investigate, but it takes an overnight stay to find it. In the mean time you get to watch Ishida and the requester messing around trying to coax it out, passing the time together. It's fun to see the 1998 tech when they set up the remote cameras, and the whole while these two have a great chemistry.
Also, you get to learn about my very favorite animal! There are many more Knight Scoop episodes that I want to share with you, but I'll try to restrain myself and pepper them in amongst other stuff.
