Funding Goal Reached After... 14 Hours! ヽ(´ー｀)ノ

Welp, there we go! Someone dropped the full €600 on me, so we've already got enough to get both drives, still have the €300 banked for a rainy day/spare, and after one day the Patreon is pulling in €15/mo.

I don't really know what to say! It's really incredible to be supported like this; it really makes the library feel like a worthy cause! I'm glad you're all as passionate about this stuff as I am, and I hope the library continues to grow into what you all want it to be!



So uhh, I don't really have a plan for the surplus funding that will be accruing. Since someone's covering the MEGA sub, everything on top of that emergency €300 goes beyond anything I thought I'd have to plan for until at least a year from now. I guess it's always good to have money saved up, but I don't want to just sit here making a bigger and bigger pile of money from supporters.

I suppose an obvious course of action would be to save up enough to get another pair of disks for eventual expansion. That will be needed eventually; I think the most sensible way to handle that is to wait until I actually need the space to buy it (rather than spend money now on empty disks, only to run down the warranty while prices drop).

I'll ask around the people who're helping me with some of the other techincal stuff, maybe they have ideas. Maybe it makes sense to buy a couple of cheap external drives and send them to whoever's keeping syncthing backups, just so they're not out of pocket? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Actually now that I think about it for three more minutes, the main library server at my house is basically a surplus 8+yo PC in the corner of my living room. A modest amount of money could probably build something a bit more low-power and modern that would carry us through many more years. Maybe that's an option?

Anyway, I'm not going to decide just now. As with everything else, I'm open to suggestions!
