Soko ga Shiritai - Heavenly Bath Houses of Tokyo

With this first recommendation, I want to try and show you something you won't have seen before. Soko ga Shiritai (which I guess translates to something like "I want to know") was aired on TBS from '82 to '97; it's billed as "docu-tainment/info-logue" which I guess is about right. It's definitely a really cool window into an interesting era of Japan's history.

The reason we have English subs for these, is that they were broadcast (and much-loved, apparently) on KIKU TV, a station in Hawaii. Some of the files are of very very low quality, and are borderline unwatchable, but this is one of the relatively clean ones. These aren't super easy to find, or at least they weren't, so we're very lucky to have so many in the library.

This is one of my favorite episodes! You get to meet onsen proprietors, patrons, even the guy who paints the murals. If you've never watched an episode of this show then I promise you're in for a treat. It's 45 minutes long, so it's a great length to sit down and watch while you have dinner (and if you have people who don't appreciate all the other crazy Japanese stuff you watch, this might be something they'd enjoy).
