A few of the technologies that science fiction has been grappling with for years are now practically upon us. Genetic engineering, cybernetics, AI… how do you view these? What lessons might we draw from great works of sci fi that might offer hope or caution?

2023-02-14 03:20:44 +0000 UTCHow much Poul Andersen have you read? Have you read Brain Wave? How do you feel about it and other stories with John Wyndham-esque changes in them, where one thing gets an SF tweak and then we stand aside and let the changes roll in?

2023-02-14 02:28:02 +0000 UTCHave you read Stephen Baxter's 'The Time Ships'? it is a sequel to H.G. Wells fantastic novel 'The time Machine'. It was officially authorised by the Well's Estate. Could I possibly implore you to do a deep dive in to Well's original Time Machine followed by a deep dive into Baxter's The Time Ships? There are far too many interesting things these books explore to not delve in to them.
