Shameless

"You once said

You are tired to explain

Always the same blame

Is there no more shame?

We are burning resources

For the call of gain

We are burning forests

Taking away from life its breath

Taking for granted Earth itself

Is there no more shame?

You don’t want to be someone you’re not

To please a world as fake as fucked

Whose lunacy is to play God. »

Alright, who wants to hear over and over the same things?

No one wants to.

So what should we do?

Pretend nothing is happening?

Pretend that nature will survive temperatures of more than 50 degrees?

Pretend it will not impact agriculture the same way?

Pretend that climate is not important?

Pretend that AI is the future?

Pretend that we are not participating in the genocide of life when we over-consume things we don't really « need », and that in the process of making these things we are plundering the resources we actually need?

Have we lost a vision?

I didn’t want to make a rant at first,

I wanted to write a poem about love,

Maybe it turned out this way because of my love for the entire Living.

When I came across articles that made me feel like I had to talk about it.

Let's start with the one titled “AI is becoming liar and manipulative”

Well, well, hell, if God created Mankind in His own image, we surely did the same with AI.

I quote: "The latest generative AI models no longer simply follow orders and even lie, scheme or threaten to achieve their ends, under the worried gaze of researchers."

It goes without saying that AI learns from us.

It is therefore up to us to change our way of thinking, so our way of living to counterbalance and reverse the worrying future towards which we are heading.

It happens within and in every little gesture of daily life, we must do it consciously.

That's not all, some technological advances are not always eco-friendly and use a lot of raw resources that "we" need to (sur)vive, and therefore, can lead to a significant scarcity of these resources.

And for what result? The sense of priorities seems to be reversed.

In the following article, climatologists are frightened but not surprised and tell us that forests will never be able to adapt to the increase in heat and therefore our agriculture will also be unable to adapt.

So we have enough to wear but not enough to eat?

Which brings me to the next article “France just made influencing fast fashion a crime”

In fact, France has just passed a very ambitious regulation targeting ultra-fast fashion, shedding light directly on influencers’ marketing.

Advertising for brands such as Shein or Temu is banned across all platforms, including social media. Which means influencers who have been promoting these companies are no longer allowed to do it legally. Even unpaid promotions will carry penalties.

I am shocked to learn that people would work for free for these kinds of companies.

People would do anything to get visibility.

More than consumer habits, it is about the social power of digital influence and the environmental cost of overconsumption.

To quote, « It draws a direct line between hyper-visibility and environmental degradation (…) France is not just regulating products, it’s regulating the culture of consumption. And in doing so, it’s challenging influencers, marketers, and brands to rethink the values they promote.

This is a wake-up call: Visibility comes with Responsibility. »

It is not about being against modernity or progress but about putting one's finger on the real problem.

We don't make the effort to prioritize what's important.

We develop machines, AI, weapons; go to space and send a bunch of stuff out there; think about colonizing other planets while not being able to take care of our own, and all of this using her resources.

Which could not better be introduced by the last article about David Suzuki who says that, and I quote:

« The real enemy was never just emissions or plastic straws. It was our economic and political systems demanding endless growth on a finite planet. »

I would add, more for questionable reasons than for essential ones.

« Decades of warnings, protests, scientific reports and half-measures led us to this point. Now the world is already locked into a future of increasingly severe and destructive natural disasters. »

Which I previously described as a life’s genocide.

« He points to the planetary boundaries research showing we have already crossed seven of nine critical Earth system limits. We are in an extreme danger zone (…) we can no longer PRETEND we are avoiding crisis.(…) »

But he isn’t telling people to give but to change our focus.

« It’s time to build resilience, localise food systems, prepare for blackouts, floods, fires, and extreme heat. »

That « The government won’t be able to respond fast enough as disasters pile up » at least for a few people.

« It’s a harsh message many don’t want to hear, but it’s grounded in the reality of physics and the scale of what we’ve already set in motion (…) We need to grieve the world we are losing, but we also need to act to protect what can still be saved.»

His call is not for despair « but for courage and honesty. (…) We cannot avoid the storms, but we can choose how we meet them.»

Learn to move with the waves instead of fighting them.

Life is eternal. But we and the present matter too.

For this Full Moon in Capricorn I invite you, beautiful souls, to rethink what you love in this life, to rethink what you wish for, what you want to experience that still exists, at what cost, but more importantly, for how long.
