Smallville Season 8 Episode 22 Reaction

Season 9 anytime soon?

Emilia Leidich

I feel your whole mood during this episode. During that whole Jimmy/Chloe scene, everything felt so off and than Jimmy got stabbed and I was just through with the episode and didn't care at all about anything that took place after. This really has to be one of the worst season finale's for Smallville's... it just made a person more upset than anxious about next season.

Tia

That is in my opinion the best season in the entirety of the show.

season 9 is awesome though, you’re in for a good solid season

man i remember being so pissed about how they did jimmy back in the day. still to this day the worst part about smallville to me

Fingers crossed I just want everyone know if something bums me out it doesn't mean the episode is utter dogshit its just the way i feel at that moment. I can't wait for this season to go full stride and I also appreciate all of your comments

I appreciate that man always love something like that, I'm about to message you.

Lol I lived for that little tiny Clois moments, we got so few back then and everything was highly appreciated.

I don’t know if Delvin noticed that Clark did go to the phone booth to see if Lois, was there, but obviously she wasn’t there. The worry in his voice and eyes when he said “LOIS...” at that moment.. I was like aww he really must have wanted to say goodbye to her or to see her at least one more time. But we all know she disappeared with the legion ring before she could even go to that phone booth. Plus, Doomsday literally creating chaos and destruction in Metropolis. But still a very short Clois moment to add on that other great Clois/RBB phone moment earlier in the episode. ❤️

Then why didn't they just do that from the start? Was it just so they could name drop him in season 4?

Olivia

The producers said ....they killed Henry to make a younger Jimmy....Jimmy Olsen is about 10 years younger than Lois and Clark...that is why....look it up.

It'll make sense later

This pissed a lot of fans off because Jimmy doesn't die in the comics so it didn't make any sense to anyone as to why they killed him off.

I don’t think these last episodes were that bad as many here think. The fight sucks, is true, that’s the weak point of the finale and what would make it one the worst, but everything is the background to s9, the best season imo, so I’m fine with it.

Dev liked it....and as a newbie Smallville fan...that's what matters.

Interesting view for sure

I dont agree that this is the "worst" episode, however I do agree that this is the worst finale definatley. But not because Jimmy died, I mean I liked him but looking back on everything, I actually wouldn't change that. It's the purpose for which they killed him that irks me. So before I get into that, I need to get something off my chest first. Okay so a little disclaimer... I am not trying to excuse or defend Davis murdering Jimmy AT ALL. He has no excuse for that one. However, I understand why he did it. I do not believe that Davis would have become a murderer without Doomsday. There are a couple ways to interpret this and one being that the ending was proof that he was always a murderer through and through but I don't see it that way. After seeing this season THREE times, I am still convinced that he could have had a normal life as a good hearted paramedic if Doomsday never existed and he was normal. That's not to say that he couldn't still have become obsessed with a girl, that totally could've happened, but I don't think he would've become a murderer. "So how do you explain this finale then?" Well, I don't think that a human psyche could survive a separation from Doomsday. It's like if Bruce Banner found a way to destroy the Hulk and just be a normal scientist again, mentally he would never be the Bruce he once was after having lived those experiences (Incredible Hulk played around with the PTSD concept a bit). For Davis, Chloe was the only tie to sanity he had left and who he thought was the only one who believed in him. And to hear her just completely disregard him to Jimmy, that was the final straw that caused him to snap and fully give in to what his other half forced him to be his whole life. Basically a 'if she doesn't care about me then why should I care about myself' mentality. "What about him drugging Jimmy and making him look crazy? That's what made him lose my sympathy." Uh you do realize that Jimmy saw him kill someone? What was he supposed to do, explain his situation? Jimmy would never have believed him. If Davis wanted to purely destroy Chlimmy then why did he hesitate to kill Jimmy when he was holding him and Oliver captive? I can actually imagine Chloe doing something similar in her doing whatever it takes to hide Davis state. Anyway with that being said, I know the moral they were trying to get across (humans can be monsters too) and it's completely appropriate for this show BUT there were so many better ways of doing it. This way just felt cheap to me. I can't really put into words why it felt cheap but I'm sure at least some of you know what I'm talking about.
