Anyway Devlin, after all that crap, Season 9 is probably one of the best seasons of the show. Yeah, the s8 finale sucked ass (it's probably one of the worst episodes of the series) but s9 makes up for that like crazy. Not much people had faith the show could recover after that finale, but honestly, S9 is an amazing season. You won't regret it!

Reaction to episode 22: You know, my biggest problem with the episode was: how short the fight was, how much plot armor everyone had (how did Doomsday didn't kil any of the heroes?), how the writers bend backwards to try to justify Chloe (making her say she did what Clark wanted). And what they did to Jimmy. I HATE THEY KILLED HIM. I HATE THEY SAID "HE'S NOT THE ICONIC JIMMY OLSEN!". And I hate the final scene of Jimmy (and of Davis) centers around Chloe. It's such a disservice to both actors and to both characters to make their endings about how much the love Chloe, about how much Chloe has sacrificed, and about how much of a hero she is. I hate that. Other than that the episode was okay, I liked some scenes, but as a whole, probably the worst finale of the entire show. OH! After the opening credits Chloe is watching the stars with Davis, and Chloe says that as long as she's with Davis he doesn't beast out. SO WHO KILLED NEUTRON LAST EPISODE UH CHLOE?! This is why I can't get behind people that make excuses for Davis and Chloe, last episode Davis killed a person (ok, they were chasing Davis so he kinda killed in self defense?) but here they are, looking at the stars like nothing happened. Davis deserved to die and Chloe deserves to go to jail.

Actually after I rewatch this finale I got that it ain't that bad as I thought. Instead of showing us pointless action fight with a huge amount of distruction like Batman V Superman, using his superspeed and superaccuracy Clark managed to trapped Doomsday in a single bound and solved the problem without victums.

The doomsday thing is explained in the s11 comics though. When I was watching the show live I remember fans complaining that the Davis twist was out of the blue, but rewatching the show here I just have to say, while not perfect, we saw enough clues of Davis not being sane during the last couple of episodes. He ruined Jimmy's life, he was ok with killing Oliver, he murdered over 50 people, and he always had "a reason", but he refused to be sent to the PZ not because "is not fair" or because "I didn't ask for it", it was just because he was not willing to lose Chloe. He was literally betting the safety of the entire world on his selfish desire of having her. So during this rewatch the "twist" made more sense to me. I'll never forgive them for the Jimmy thing though, such a shame for the actor, he had a chat with all the previous Jimmy Olsen (in the S7 special features), so do this to him was in bad taste.

I just saw your reaction to episode 21, and I have to say that there's an amazing article about morality and Tess. There's a book with essays about Smallville, it's amazing, it's about morality, fate, love, etc, all using the show as example. It actually made me appreciate Tess in this season a lot, cause in the last episodes I used to hate her. I hated everyone but Clark, cause I never understood why everyone was so obsessed with Clark killing Doomsday. HE CAN'T BE KILLED. Is not even about Clark not wanting to get his hands dirty, is that if Clark kills him it doesn't change a thing, Davis is like the Tyrant in RE2, he'll just get back eventually and keep going for him. Sending him to the PZ was th ebest optionn.

Yeah there was some scenes that should have been more explained or prolonged than other scenes tbh. The whole plan of Clark was to separate David and Doomsday, then bury him underneath that power plant and somehow that should do the job of getting rid of him + the explosion. I mean I still don’t understand how that could kill Doomsday if he’s that powerful, but hey.. maybe it’s just to keep him away for now. There was no clear explanation and also they should have a longer fight scene. So anticlimactic LOL!! As for Lois, where she went is SUPER IMPORTANT for Season 9’s story line..that’s why it wasn’t explained cuz it’s supposed to be a mystery until season 9. Just know that the legion ring sent Lois to the future and also that Clark did mention that he looked everywhere for Lois and can’t find her. So at least they’ve been worried and looking for Lois... I mean she seriously just disappeared out of thin air and obviously Clark and Chloe don’t know how and why Lois is missing. Again.. it’s an important part of Season 9.. so they’re not going to go in detail. Yeahhh Jimmy’s death was so messed up, but as we said multiple times.. Davis has become very selfish and obsessive with Chloe. He’s not as stable and cool as he was when we first met him and not mention he heard that whole convo between Chloe and Jimmy. That man was pissed off, but still why JIMMY? After finding our Clark’s secret and getting Chloe back.. BAM! Just straight up killed him. SOOO SAD!!! But that still doesn’t let Chloe off the hook and Clark for that matter. They kept trying to save Davis..they kept thinking they can fix him. But in the end, even when he’s separated from the beast he still killed Jimmy. They had Davis.. they could have sent him to PZ or had this situation under control and Jimmy didn’t have to die. BUT... they didn’t do it. What everybody is feeling especially Clark, Oliver, Dinah, and Bart is GUILT. That’s why they all went their separate ways in the end and that’s why Clark wanted to break away from human attachments. He believed in Davis and even Tess...that they can be trusted and make good decisions. But both of them went on their own path and Clark got betrayed or there was consequence for it. Just like every other season, so now he wants to fully embrace his kryptonian side. You’ll see what he means when you start season 9. And yes.., ZOD... he’s back.. thanks to Tess. 😆

Damn re-watching it back Season 8 finale was terrible. They defeated Doomsday off screen, got rid of a great character and left so many things hanging but hey at least it served as a gateway to season 9, the best season imo.
