Smallville Season 8 Episode 16

Comments

We both had such different reactions to live watching this episode for the first time ... in particlar, that scene when Davis was making Jimmy believe that he had too much medication so he was seeing things (the first time). instantly knew that Jimmy wasn't making up what he was seeing since us as the audience knew that Davis was a monster during the night time and Davis of course was the one who was giving Jimmy the medicine... I do like how eventually though you knew that Davis was over there injecting Jimmy even more to cover up the crime that Jimmy really did see him commit. I felt so terrible for Jimmy. I gotta say that I loved your reaction at the 11:38 range when Davis put a bag around the homeless man head. LMAO. lol And the fact that you said that he's just murdering people in the hospital instead of the back alleys anymore. lol Also when you truly think about it, this episode sort of was reminiscing to what Lex was going through in "Shattered" ... Lionel sort of made Lex lose his mind. Biggest difference here is that Jimmy didn't lose his mind or his memory, he was still pretty convinced by the end of the episode that Davis was a murderer. The end of this episode was a great moment for Jimmy because I agreed with every single word that Jimmy said... Chloe did believe Davis over him... just like how she trusted Clark over him. Although with Clark it's at least was understandable but the new guy? Everyone gets chosen over Jimmy so I can see why it's aggravating.

Same. I think both Chlete/Phloe (not sure which name fans prefer) and Karimmy werent explored enough. Not even in alternate timelines/realities. Speaking of which, I would've loved at least a subtle nod to Plana at some point (that newspaper in Apocalypse doesn't count). I agree that Lana shouldn't come back and that her exit was perfect but I wrote this fanfic once that would've taken place in season 10 where Pete comes back with his one or two year old son, Clark Ross (a real character from the comics) to introduce him to his dad and gets roped into something with Clark and Lois and/or Chloe but he doesnt mention who Little Clark's mom is. Later on something happened to him which put him in the hospital and they called his wife to come into town to take care of Little Clark and it turns out to be Lana (but she doesn't stay for more than a day).

Honestly, I never understood people that defended Davis after this episode. Yeah sure the guy is killing "bad guys" as a way to stop the beast and trying to stop innocent being killed. But what he did to Jimmy was fucked up. He took advantage of a guy in pain meds and made him look crazy, basically ruined his life. And all because he couldn't be more careful with his shit. I enjoyed Chlimmy but honestly, Jimmy deserves way better than Chloe. The guy goes all in in his relationship with her, even though she lies to him, manipulates the truth and always have him in the backburner. I don't even think she ever told him about the Brainiac infection (sure, she can't give him all the details, but telling him she was attacked by other meteor freak and now has other powers, is that hard to say?). Clark could have trusted Jimmy more, so Chloe wasn't forced to lie to him constantly (also, why marry the guy when you have to keep part of your life a secret and don't trust him enough? Is not even about keeping Clark's secret, there's stuff Chloe never told Jimmy that he should have know, like how she works with superheroes or something, Jimmy wouldn't have pushed about their identities). Hell, even Clark knew to tell Lana the truth before proposing to her, so I don't get how Chloe wanted to marry Jimmy when keeping him in the dark. I wish the writers could have explored Jimmy/Kara more, and see Kara being honest with Jimmy, that would have been cool.

This is my second favorite episode of the season (even though it's dark and sad). I enjoyed Chlimmy's relationship in this show, I really did. BUT, they do suffer from SOME of the same problems as Clana (although they're not as dysfunctional as Clana). That being: lack of trust and support. Which is why I (well I shouldn't say never) TEMPORARILY shipped them. Jimmy has a point. Ever since they started going out, he's always been basically a third wheel in his own relationship. Whether it be Clark, Kara, or Davis, there was always someone that was more of a priority for them than they prioritized each other. Chloe said that after she and Jimmy got married, she was going to shift her priorities more toward him than Clark (which is what she meant by things "changing") but she hasnt. I think this is what kind of drew me to Chlavis. Chlimmy has always had light-hearted cutsie chemistry (similar to what Clana had back in seasons 1 and 2), while Chlavis has mature adult chemistry. Although they could never actually work (with Davis being an unkillable Krypto monster and all), Chloe does treat him how she should've treated Jimmy. She does trust him, she does confide in him, and she does make time for him when he needs her. Whenever it comes to being needed by Clark or Davis, Chloe has always put Jimmy on the backburner. So although I'm not exactly overjoyed, I don't blame Jimmy for being "done trying to make it work." You could argue that the writers finally learned their lesson and wrote the break up that Clana should've had seasons ago. Also Chloe was kind of being a hypocrite this episode with her lecturing Clark on him giving Tess a chance when trusting the wrong people is all she's been doing lately (didn't they already have an episode about her trusting people more than Clark?).ย  Sidenote: I know it's pretty much implied that Jimmy wasn't hallucinating the first time just the second, but a little touch I noticed was that the scene of Davis committing the murder was dark and the hospital was empty just like his actual hallucination later with Doomsday and Chloe. No other scenes in the episode are shot like that.

Seeing Jimmy like that, it's really painfull man. I can understand Chloe putting down Jimmy at that time but she always keeps him secondary. That really pisses me off and yes, only light in this episode is Clark. One nitpick though, he should have checked for those parachutes(Tess is not a trusting source) some times he does things sloppy which comes back and bites his ass. Good reaction man ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ & please b safe ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

Hallelujah, we're agreeing on stuff again.

I liked this episode. I feel so sorry for our poor jimmy boy, the things donโ€™t look good for him right now, and all this Davis stuff and clovis donโ€™t help at all, and ultimately he is right, specially regarding Clark, Chloe always had the tendency to put Clark first, over all. Now Climmy is ruined for me, I shipped them till bride, now is not cute anymore, too much angst and drama. By the other hand I can help but feel sorry for Davis, I really wish thereโ€™s a way to keep the beast away. He is THE villain I would like to have a happy ending, and maybe another one of s9 too ;) and Iโ€™m not counting Tess since I donโ€™t see her as a villain, more like a player, she was a great addition to the show and my third or fourth favorite female character. I love the first scene in the farm with Clark and Chloe, finally we can see a more confident Clark, he is in the path of accepting himself and his destiny fully without feeling it as an obligation with no choice in the matter, he was struggling for so many years with it that is refreshing to see that side of him. Thatโ€™s one of my favorite things of s8, the first sights of the RBB!! A little closer to our beloved superman :) And you are right the only light in this chapter was Clark!! Can you believe it? He usually was the one with the angst, a really good change!! And that jump was amazing indeed. Good reaction.
