Smallville Season 8 Episode 14 Reaction

Comments

after that ending scene I WAS DEPRESSED 4 WEEEEEEEEEKS when i watched it live. :' -( Like I knew they were never going to be together but I wanted things to leave off on another way but that kryptonite suit really cemented the fact that this was final. And when that set in bro....... i was in an abyss for a while.

With this clana bs I haven’t forgot Toyman. He is so creepy and one of the greatest villain of SV imo. Another reason for me to despise this episode: they turned Oliver, one of my fav character, into a murderer :( And the last clana kiss was gross, goodbye Lana drama, I won’t miss you!

Emilia Leidich

Lana got to turned into Catherine and found Vincent and they lived happily ever after!! You did very good Dev. John Green you are a man a many words...I love it.....lol.

WillAlwaysLoveClark

Yeah, it definitely would’ve been interesting if they wrote it in a way that left the door open for Kreuk to return and be strictly a friend to Clark but I kind of doubt the writers would’ve ever let her return and not have some kind of romantic interest between the two of them LOL at least they committed to a definite end here, as good or bad as we find it lol

With Lois, a smile is always guaranteed.

Clana was never meant to be, and I wish the writers wrote a fitting end for the characters, I understand the whole "it's allegory" but honestly, Lana is supposed to be one of Clark's closest friends. Even when he's Superman and married to Lois Lana is there, either as a businesswoman, just a childhood friend or whatever. I always prefer the interpretation that Lana decided to stay in Smallville, cause she liked the simple life, and that Clark goes to her for advice or just to take a second and remember his life there. The way they ended this arc is just...ugh. I wanted them to realize that they can't keep forcing themselves to be together, as it seemed in Bride and Legion (and part of Bulletproof).

Even though I lost interest in Clana's story ages ago that last scene was done very beautifully. While writing I realised that I didn't smile for the last 4 episodes (may b a little bit to the Legion eps). I am only smiling 😃😁 to Delvin's reactions, Sooo depressing 🙁🙁☹️😔 episodes man. Hoping for a genuine smile to upcoming episodes. Great reactions bro carry-on.❤️❤️💖

I liked her.

Everything you just said is EXACTLY why they wrote it that way. No more makeup and breakup stuff between them now. Now they don't have a choice. They HAVE to stay away from each other now.

I hate AoS with passion and I guess before the AoS were aired I really didn’t mind Lana Lang that much, I mean she never was one of my fav character but she was annoying and over the top at most for me, after the AoS I started to hate her. Basically she was written as the martyr leaving a heart broken Clark (again) and with all this abilities trying to make her stronger and empowerment when is pretty clear she is far from it, if she was then she wouldn’t have the need to get those powers in the first place. But what I hate the most is what this stupid arc does to Lois and Clois, and is hard for me to understand that people whom call them self cloisers would like/enjoy/be hurt about clana/ in this arc. Clark was for all season 8 growing up and getting closer to Lois, they were doing the Clois very well imho.... and then we had Bride, Clark is about to kiss Lois, Lana enters and Clark forgets Lois like yesterday news, then Lana arc pass and Clark again is the path to moving on.....Closure none, they finally learning they were wrong for each other none, they acknowledging their relationship was unhealthy and dysfunctional none, just suddenly is the universe working against them!! They learned nothing in 7,5 seasons, specially s7 when finally they get the chance to make it works and still they couldn’t. I’m sad because I had to see Clark begging on his knees for a woman he was barely happy with. PS3 tells us our hero could never move on from this woman by his own free will after everything she’s done. They made her a hero at the end which is whatever because I don’t give a damn about her, but at the high expense of Clark Kent. I felt so insulted as a Superman fan. Clana is the most unhealthy relationship in the show and we all know that they don't work together but they decided to shove down our throats that they are not together because of Kryptonite. Bad writing, bad plot, bad ending to the worst relationship in the show and a shadow over my beloved Clois.

Emilia Leidich

Finally someone who isn't a member of the Clana lynch mob. I don't necessarily think this storyline was needed, they could have found a simpler and more mature way to get these two to realize that they just can't work, but on their own terms. BUT, since the writers had to fulfill her contract I do admire how they went an extra mile in an attempt to give her some depth and a purpose outside of Clark, even though it didn't bode well with most fans.

Olivia

I probably in the minority saying I’m actually really satisfied with the way they wrapped up Lana. They gave her a mission and a new outlook on life and let her make a choice that is usually left up to Clark. What better way to send her off than to let her realize the world is bigger than her and Smallville: that’s kinda the thesis of her story arc. She’s always wanted to leave but always been pulled back. This way, both Clark and Lana get absolute closure without any second thoughts.

That final scene gets me every time I watch it.

Wait a sec. Weren't you just lecturing me about how horrible this episode was and how there was nothing clever or complex about the writing? Cause it sounds to me like you're reading between the lines and acknowledging that the writers did have something up their sleeves that involved more than just making them break up for the sake of breaking them up.

Olivia

Also, Lana being turned into a big piece of Kryptonite is not the reason Clark and Lana don't end up together. It's mostly symbolic, because they are not right for each other. It is toxic, and they never really trusted each other. The dialogue in the middle of the episode tells us how we're supposed to view what happens at the end. Clark: How could I throw away something that means so much? I still remember seeing you wear this in high school. I couldn't get within 5 feet of you without falling over. Lana: And even after your ship got rid of the Kryptonite [in my necklace], there always seemed to be something standing in our way. The Kryptonite isn't keeping them apart at all. They're just wrong for each other. Bad and unhealthy for each other, even. They both know that. The Kryptonite suit is just a good excuse. Lana always demanded Clark's secret for years even though she had no right to it. She even wrongfully set up a whole trap just so she could find out, and that's messed up. Clark never trusted her, and they were always hurting each other and Lana always said hurtful things to Clark when she didn't get her way.

KevinGrady

Lex didn't "plan this whole thing from the start." His plan was to build the suit for himself, and use it himself so he could survive and so he could have powers and have a suit that would weaken Clark. He didn't fake all of that just to orchestrate Lana getting it and turning her into Kryptonite. And unfortunately Lex really did die in this episode. You'll have to come to grips with that, because like people mentioned above, it's true. Lex is dead. Michael refused to come back even for this disrespectful-to-Lex appearance, so they killed Lex off.

KevinGrady

I actually admire the episode for that cant say like cause it aint one I enjoy re watching but it was good plus Power for me is much worse. Also on the second pick thing I dont really feel thats right as Clark was into Lois back in Bride and it would have been interesting to see how things played out if Lois decided to stay.

Before I say my final piece on Clana, I feel like I need to clear up a misconception that a know a few people probably have about me considering how I've defended Clana in the past. I am NOT nor have I EVER been a Clana shipper. For some reason people seem to think that me not ostracizing them every chance I get must mean that I love them but I don't. I'm a Clana SYMPATHIZER meaning that I didn't despise them and I enjoyed certain moments while they lasted. That being said, this episode was heartbreaking. For a while I was in the boat that several of you are in. I wanted the break up to be a bit more mature and direct and I felt like this was kind of cheap and that they basically made Lois Clark's second pick. However, after seeing these past few episodes together (which several of you are adamant were horribly written) I understand the arc. Remember the line from last episode that several of you were complaining about, "what if the rest of the world didn't have to come first"? Well, how did this episode end? Clark and Lana chose to put the safety of the innocent above their relationship. The writers weren't going overboard with the Clana mush just to piss us off, they were building up to this message. I know that Lana doesn't NEED to have powers, but since she got them she needs to accept the responsibilities and consequences that come with them just as Clark always has. And in the end, she made the responsible choice, even when it came to killing Lex (which she had more of a reason to do than anyone). Kind of a paradox when you think about it. So am I glad that they're done? Absolutely. But that being said, I will never agree that this is the worst episode.

Olivia

I don't care how you feel about Clana, that last scene was brilliantly shot. Top 15 (maybe top 10) saddest scenes in the show.

Olivia

And in my opinion, one of her best performances

Olivia

I will say even as a non clana shipper that last scene was depressing lol and sort of powerful

Erick Zetino

Well I mean CLANA can never be since she’s basically a walking kryptonite, she literally can kill Clark. I mean the writers could have written a better and mature departure for Lana. I mean like I said, they literally just made her Clark’s kryptonite. The fact that Clark was still clinging on to her even if he knows being around her can get him killed..was just ughhh. I really wanted like a legit mature closure for CLANA, like both of them realizing that it’s just not going to work out. Let’s face it..they’ve tried so many times and like I said sometimes LOVE just isn’t enough to keep a relationship going. Their love has been tainted, no matter how many times they try to reason or forget it the bad memories. Either way, whether they stay together or not.. their relationship will forever be vulnerable and there’s still a bit of trust issues/hurt. But hey.. the writers wrote Clana’s closure scene this way and they closed that chapter. Now it’s time for Clark..even though it’s baby steps to move on from it all. He can finally leave that all in his past and continue to fulfill his destiny. Let’s go new chapter aka ep15!! 💪

Gotkatzy

Finally the last episode. I’m not sure if I want to see it though, not in the mood to see Delvin cry all over the clana debacle 🤨. Disgusting clana drama one more time. Waiting for ep 15 and Lois!!

If there's one thing Im very disappointed with all the seasons of smallvile, It's the death of Lionel and Lex, they didn't feel satisfying at all. I laughed the first timeI realized Lex's died by explosion cause i thought that there is no way the smart and clever Lex Luthor would be found so fast. I thought the truck was some sort of a trap meant Clark. I also wanted Clark to calm down only by the words of Lana and the convenient explosion. ps. I didn't know that the end of Clana would hit you so hard but you are right that last scene was amazing. Great reaction yet again :D

DarkJokester

This was Kristen Kreuk's last episode.
