Foundry VTT users

Greetings world builders!

Just a quick poll to find out about some house-keeping options regarding FoundryVTT modules.

When you install FoundryVTT map packs do you use the zip folder for a manual installation or do you use the manifest URL?

Thanks everyone! Happy gaming!

You can actually use my manifest URLs for Forge, as all of my foundry packs are on their marketplace (it loads them for you) But yeah that works for data saving

I have been using the zip files so i can import to Forge. I find the url very simple to use. Only reason i use the zips is because i need the maps to go the assets part instead of the game data space.

I totally agree, and I'm working on ways to implement this at the moment. As I said to someone else - the worry is that anyone with the URL will have access to all new content forever, even without being a patron. So I'm trying to find a way to limit access to patrons only. There will be a solution soon though!

Manifest URLs are just so convenient. I'm not surprised that option dominates the voting.

I would love a master Manifest with all the files in one compendium. Every time I create a new world, I need to reimport all the different ones. If this is possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Silent, this is something I'm working on at the moment to make it easier for patrons to instal everything. The only worry (from a creator point of view) is that a single manifest can be used permanently by anyone who has the url, and it will be updated each week. Which means that non-patrons would always get new content. A solution would be to change the URL each week...but then it makes it a pain for patrons. I'm looking at ways around it all, because I do want to make things easier for you all!

I have had an issue with a large manifest before but recall fixing it by downloading the zip (from the manifest code) directly then manually adding it to foundry

Manifest URL is always better due to having walls and effects on them. I see lots of map makers upload “VTT maps” but only allow zip downloads. It can then take a lot of time to add walls and lights.

I use the manifest as it's easier than bogging my computer down with extra It gets quite messy in the folders, however with each map being a separate install. I do have a couple other map packs that are all in one, would it be possible for you to set up something similar, so the map pack itself gets an update each time?

The Zip doesn’t always work but the manifest normally does for me
