As the orb of multicolored flames grew larger, illuminating the depths of the underwater cave, I immediately felt the surge of energy emanating from it. Something ancient was stirring, something far beyond the colorful tranquility of Crystal Island's marine life. My instincts screamed at me, and I knew this wasn't just some underwater adventure anymore. This was a threat.
I glanced at Harley, her wide eyes glued to the glowing orb, unaware of the magnitude of danger we were about to face.
"Harley, this isn't safe," I communicated through telepathy, gripping her arm firmly. "We need to leave—now."
Her smile faltered, and the realization of the situation began to sink in. "Wait, what do you mean? What's going on?"
Before I could even respond, the orb exploded with an immense burst of energy, sending a shockwave that rippled through the water, pushing us back. Strange glyphs started to appear on the massive door ahead, glowing ominously in sync with the pulsating energy. The sea around us started to churn violently, and the once beautiful underwater world turned dark and menacing.
"This place… it's a tomb," I muttered.
I wrapped my aura around both of us, shielding Harley from the force of the shockwave. With my other hand, I grabbed her wrist tightly, concentrating my energy.
"Hold on," I said through gritted teeth. "I'm taking you home."
"Wait! Alex, no! I can—"
"You're pregnant, Harley," I cut her off firmly, my voice carrying the weight of what was coming. "I'm not risking anything. You're going back to the mansion, now."
Without giving her time to protest, I activated my teleportation ability, focusing on the coordinates of our New York mansion. The world around us flickered, and in a blink, Harley was gone. Safe. Secure. She might be mad at me for sending her away, but I couldn't afford distractions right now.
I exhaled deeply, the ocean's pressure bearing down on me once again. Now it was time to see what kind of hell had just awakened.
The energy swirling around the door intensified, and I could feel the immense power radiating from within. The massive crystal doors began to rumble, the ancient glyphs glowing brighter as if reacting to my presence. A loud, deafening crack echoed through the cavern as the doors slowly parted.
From the crack emerged four dark, shadowy figures. The waters churned as they swam forward, their powerful presence almost suffocating in the confined space of the cave. These weren't ordinary beings. Their forms radiated with raw, ancient power, and I knew exactly who they were.
The Four Horsemen.
Behind them, the massive figure of a man floated forward, larger than any of the Horsemen. His body was adorned with ancient armor, blue and gray, lined with glowing markings that pulsed with unnatural energy. His eyes glowed with the same colors as the orb, but far more intense—more menacing. He exuded authority, an aura that seemed to command the entire ocean.
Apocalypse.
I cursed under my breath. Of all the things to find on a honeymoon, I had to stumble into the slumbering tomb of this guy.
The Four Horsemen moved to flank their master, their eyes gleaming with purpose. War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death—each one an embodiment of chaos. They didn't speak, but I could feel their attention lock onto me, their glowing eyes narrowing in unison.
"So, it seems the world has forgotten the name Apocalypse," a deep, echoing voice resounded through the waters. Apocalypse's lips hadn't moved, but his voice boomed inside my mind. His presence alone seemed to warp reality around us, the water itself trembling in his wake.
I let out a slow breath, drawing on my power, the water around me responding to my aura as it rippled outward in waves. "You've been asleep for too long, old man. Things have changed."
Apocalypse's gaze fell upon me, scrutinizing, as if weighing my very existence. "The strong still rule, and the weak still follow. That has not changed. But you… you are different. You reek of power."
He waved his hand casually, and I barely had a moment to react before the Horsemen charged forward, their weapons gleaming in the darkness. I pushed off the ocean floor, raising my aura shield just in time as the Horsemen descended upon me.
Clang!
War struck first, his massive battle axe slamming into my aura shield with the force of a freight train. I gritted my teeth, the impact reverberating through my entire body. His eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty intensity, and his strength was monstrous. But I wasn't some ordinary human he could easily crush.
"You've got to try harder than that," I growled, pushing back with a surge of energy.
War was thrown back, but Pestilence was already coming at me from the side, his hands glowing with a sickly green light. I could feel the toxins emanating from his touch, threatening to corrupt the water around us.
"Nope!" I spat, activating my Aura Amplification to disperse the toxins. I shot forward, delivering a powerful kick to his gut, sending him spiraling backward into the cavern wall.
Famine and Death circled me like sharks, waiting for their opening. I felt Famine's power leeching at my energy, trying to drain me. That fool. Energy manipulation is my specialty. I activated my Energy Reflection skill, sending his leeching power right back at him. Famine stumbled, caught off guard by the feedback.
Before Death could strike, I unleashed a flurry of aura chains, wrapping around his scythe and yanking him toward me. I spun him around and tossed him straight into War, sending both of them crashing into the sea floor in a cloud of dust and broken coral.
"Is that all you've got?" I called out, adrenaline pumping as I readied myself for the next wave.
But Apocalypse remained motionless, simply observing, his arms crossed as if the fight was beneath him.
"You amuse me, human," his voice echoed once more. "But your defiance is futile."
He raised his hand, and suddenly, the entire cavern shook violently. The sea itself seemed to bend to his will as massive tendrils of water surged from the ground, forming towering, serpentine figures that encircled me.
Hydrokinesis? Great. Just what I needed—giant water monsters.
The tendrils lashed out with immense speed, crashing against my aura shield with overwhelming force. I braced myself, pushing back with everything I had, but Apocalypse's power was relentless. He wasn't just testing me anymore—he was trying to crush me.
I dug deeper, channeling more of my aura into my shield. The tendrils writhed and slammed against it like wild beasts, but I held firm. My eyes locked onto Apocalypse. If I was going to win this, I needed to take out the big boss first.
"I've had enough of your little games," I growled, activating Teleportation. In a blink, I appeared directly in front of Apocalypse, summoning all my energy into a devastating punch aimed straight at his face.
But Apocalypse caught my fist with ease, his eyes narrowing as if I were nothing more than an insect.
"You are powerful… but not enough," he said coldly.
With a flick of his wrist, he threw me back as if I weighed nothing, sending me crashing into the cavern wall with bone-rattling force. My shield barely held, cracks forming around it as I pushed myself back up.
This was going to be harder than I thought.
I wiped the blood from my lip, my body already healing from the impact. "Alright, Apocalypse. Let's see what you've really got."
With a surge of power, I unleashed my Aura Domain, the entire cave lighting up in a brilliant red glow as I prepared for the real battle.
The fight was just beginning.
As my Aura Domain flared to life, the crimson energy surged from my core, casting a blood-red glow over the entire underwater cavern. The once serene, crystal-studded environment now took on a foreboding, ominous hue. The fish and sea creatures scattered in terror, their instinct telling them to flee from the impending battle. Apocalypse stood still, a stone pillar of power, his gaze unshaken by my display of force. But I wasn't finished yet.
I allowed the familiar darkness of my vampiric nature to seep into my aura. The deep, pulsating crimson energy twisted and morphed, growing darker as my vampiric instincts came to life. My body felt lighter, sharper... My senses heightened to an almost maddening degree. My fangs extended, and my eyes gleamed with a predatory hunger I hadn't unleashed in a long time.
"Let's see how you handle this," I muttered, the words coming out as a growl.
I shot forward, my speed enhanced by my vampiric aura, closing the distance between Apocalypse and myself in the blink of an eye. The water around me parted, unable to keep up with my movements. This time, I wasn't holding back. My fist, cloaked in dark red energy, aimed directly at Apocalypse's chest.
But again, he was faster than expected. With a flick of his hand, a barrier of force appeared between us, stopping my punch just inches from his chest. The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the water, but the barrier didn't waver.
"You are powerful," Apocalypse repeated, his eyes narrowing. "But you still lack control."
