This show is one of my favorite's of all time. With that being said, this season is incredibly heavy, and it's needed. While season 1 showed many horrors, it was mostly from the "victors" standpoint, or the viewpoint of the strong. This season focused more heavily on the losing end of this world; slaves, the losers of war, the weak. Similar to the first season, this season sets up the rest of the series. The heaviness and tone of the season is a driving force in many hard decisions that Thorfinn is going to have to make on his adventure. The cruelty of the world has to be shown from the angle of the loser to understand truly why Thorfinn's struggle are needed. If all we saw was the horrors from the victor's side (season 1), it wouldn't be as impactful. The story is a extremely well written and it's truly a work of art. The manga is almost complete however the anime takes years between seasons unfortunately. If you're ever interested, the manga is well worth a read, but it may ruin the anime reaction experience.
