November 2022 Release Third Preview: Sons of Ymir Vol. 4!

Hope you are all having a great week. After a few days of hard work we have finally managed to finish the November 2022 Release, the Sons of Ymir Vol. 4, with this -highly expected- Dwarf Artillery Set.

The Dwarf Artillery Set is composed of three main big weapons, a Dwarf Cannon that comes with two versions: a mobile version and a deployed version; a Dwarf Organ Gun and a Dwarf Flamethrower. We have also created one more miniature than the already planed, so there are six (6) Dwarf Artillery Crew. We have also decided to create a Dwarf Barricade in order to bring a piece of terrain to the set to create a cool small diorama.

About the Dwarf Artillery Set

Creating this artillery set has been an amazing experience but also quite complicated. Why? The Sons of Ymir are based on the norse mythology and aesthetic, and there isn't almost any reference regarding the use of gunpowder within this old culture. So we have ended gathering other medieval references from other cultures but trying to apply some norse elements, in the same line we did with the Dwarf Old Siege Engines.

But the big challenge has been the Flamethrower! After our little research around the web, we finally decided to go for a "Greek Fire" classic flamethrower used by the byzantines in their ships and even by hand, using a simple siphon mechanism. In our case the air is propelled into the tank that contains the explosive mixture with the use of a blacksmith bellows. You can learn more about the Greek Fire HERE or HERE.

This reference also gave us an incredible idea for a future unit of dwarfs spitting fire through their weapons!
