“So, if I drink this, I don't have to be worried about being bullied anymore?" the young boy Minato, looking down at the glass of red liquid placed on my desk.
It had only been a few days since Rei helped us create the website for the mansion, and we finally had what, in a sense, was our first customer, or rather a new family member.
Based on the story that we were told. Minato was a bullied orphan, with no place to go and no one to care about him if he went missing. He was the ideal character to become a member of our family. However, I could see that he was very broken inside.
Cuts and bruises all across his body. There was even a long scar across his neck. This poor boy must have tried to escape in another way but failed.
"Why of course, my dear," I said to him, being as kind as possible. He looked tired and needed rest. Luckily this potion that grandmother gave to will do the trick.
“I can assure you that all of your problems will fade away once you drink this.”
“It can’t be that simple,” Minato said, still sounding a bit skeptical.
“But it is,” I told him, showing him the contract he signed minutes ago. “Everything said in this contract shall be followed exactly. No one is forcing you to do this, and even if you decide to back out now, that is fine. The contract will only take effect when you decide to drink this potion. The moment you do, you will become part of our family.”
“With us, you can be in a place where you actually belong. With people that will love and care for you. No bully shall ever harm you again. This is your chance to change yourself for the better. There is no reason to refuse this offer.
“Y-you’re right…” Minato said, slowly picking up the potion in his hands.
“For the longest time, I allowed myself to live like this. I allowed myself to be bullied because I never took any chances to try and stop it. I was a coward. I don’t want to be a coward anymore. I want to change!”
Minato took off the lid of the potion and drank it without any more hesitation. He chose to change, yet he did not know what he would become. How brave.
“Impressive, to think that you would drink all of it in one go. I heard the taste is very pungent.” Perhaps grandmother lied about that part.
“Um, so when will it start to take effect?" he asked, noticing that nothing had happened yet.
“Oh, don't worry, it should take effect in 3, 2, 1...”
THUD!
Minato fell to the ground unconscious as the potion slowly started to take effect.
“Don’t tell me that I missed him drinking the potion,” my grandmother said, coming out the left wall of my office. “It took forever to find that potion. Not to mention the guard. You should have waited for me.”
“Grandmother, if you wanted to watch, then you should have been here on time.,” I said to her. After the events that happened with Destiny, I couldn’t fully trust her, especially since she was openly hiding things from me. For that same reason, I made sure that she understood my discontent.
“How rude, to think that all of those etiquette lessons lead to this.”
“Well, grandmother, perhaps if you were more upfront with me, I would act nicer to you. You only have yourself to blame for my attitude.”
“Sweetie, as I told you before, you still aren’t ready to learn that. Give it some time and increase your power. Only then will I entrust myself with that knowledge. Though I do believe that you have more pressing matters at hand,” she said, pointing out the smoke coming from Minato’s body.
“It’s working faster than expected,” I said, pulling Minato’s shrinking body away from the sun. “Did you find that ring you were talking about with the guard?” Without it there would be a slight problem.
“Of course I did. She won’t be able to go outside without it,” Grandmother said as a pink ring appeared on my desk.
Seeing that everything was in order and that the transformation had already it was best to bring our new guest elsewhere.
“Himiko if you would,” I said, calling her inside of the room.
“Yes, Miss, what can I… oh now, isn’t she a cute one,” she said upon entering and looking down at Minato’s ever-changing face.
“We need to bring her to her new room. I am certain that you have everything ready.”
“Yes, though I would have preferred to spend a bit more time on it. There are not nearly enough plushies for her to play with. I’ll need to buy more when I get the chance.
“Of course,” I said to her. In order to make sure that every member of my new family was well taken care of, I made sure that they would get their own specially designed room. It was the least I could do for bringing them back to a world filled with humans.
“Come, let’s bring our new precious little girl to her room. She will need a proper place to sleep.”
“Of course,” Himiko said, picking Minato up with ease, following out of my office and towards the second floor where Minato’s new room was.
Once there, we entered a lovely pink room, filled with plushies and dresses, and in the center was a cute pink and purple coffin.
Himiko did as I instructed and placed Minato in the coffin, allowing him, or rather her a peaceful transformation.
“Miss, if I may ask, why are you doing this?” Himiko asked me, sitting down next to me.
“Hmm?”
“I understand that you are returning us to who we are meant to be, but why? Why are you bringing it upon yourself to do any of this?”
“To gain a family. For the longest time, I have been alone. While my memories may still be muddled I know that what I desire is a family that loves me. Each one of you girls is precious to me.”
“To be honest, I want to tell you more, but even I don’t know the full reasoning. I’m sorry.”
I wish I could tell them more, but until I become stronger grandmother won’t tell me anything, and I doubt I could find anything on my own.
“Miss, there is nothing for you to be sorry for. We are all grateful for what you have done for us. The memories of being trapped as a human being are still stuck in my mind. It was torture. You saved us, just as you are saving this little girl.”
Himiko’s words put a smile on my face. It would seem that I would need to show everyone how grateful I am that they are here.
An hour had passed since Minato drank the potion and her transformation was finally done.
The coffin began to shake, and Minato, or Mina, soon popped out.
Compared to before, she was much cuter.
“My, my, my. What a cute little vampire we have here,” I said, looking at the poor girl, whose eyes landed on the base of my neck. Her instinct for blood was quite good.
“…”
It was obvious that she was confused, looking at me in silence. However, I wasn’t going to give her time to relax, as I did promise the other girls something fun to do.
“Girls, come on in and show our dear princess a good time!” I said, watching as Rei, Chloe, and R… join us. Destiny stayed outside as always, but at least we could have some fun now.
“OMG, she looks so adorable!” Rei yelled, taking pictures of Mina. “She's going to look great in this!"
Rei and the other girls had already picked out cute clothes for Mina to wear, and hers was a cute black dress with red frills.
“Come on, girls, let's get her all dolled up!"
“Wait! I'm not a-“
It was clear that Mina still didn’t understand what was going on, but that didn’t stop the others from having fun.
Before she could even finish his sentence, the girls surrounded her in seconds, ridding her of her ugly male clothing and replacing it with the first set of clothes they had chosen. Once done, they led her to a full-length body mirror where she was able to see her new form.
"N-no way… this can't be me!" she yelled in disbelief as she saw a cute black-haired vampire girl with wings, wearing a black dress with red frills on the other side of the mirror. "I can't be this cute! I'm a guy!"
"How do you like your new form?" I asked seeing that the mirror had worked. "Vampires normally can't see their reflections, but this mirror is special. It's been enchanted just for you."
Luckily grandmother found this mirror a few days ago, or this would have not been as fun.
"No, turn me back! I never agreed to this! I don’t want to be some sort of monster!” she yelled out looking as if she was going to cry. It was clear that her lack of blood was making her cranky.
“Calm down,” Himiko said, walking over to the poor girl, placing the pink ring on her finger, and handing her a small glass of blood, donated by everyone.
“It’s okay to be scared. I promise that if you drink this, then you’ll feel much better.”
“If… if I drink this, can I go back to how I was before?”
“Sweetie, this is how you were before. Can you be a big girl for us and drink this?”
“Alright…”
Mina was obviously skeptical of Himiko’s words, though it looked like she trusted her enough. She drank the blood given to her and for a second it looked like she calmed down, though a few seconds later her pupils became dilated and what my grandmother predicted happened.
“Wrrraagghhh!!! Bloooddd!” Mina screamed at the top of her lungs, chugging the rest of the blood in one go before charging at everyone else, but I was prepared for that.
Before she could cause any harm to herself or anyone else I stuck the bamboo mouth guard inside her mouth, tying it to the back of her head. Seconds later, she was calming down.
“There, this should help with the blood cravings,” I said to her.
Mina was confused and tried to remove it but it wouldn’t budge.
"It's useless to try, my dear Mina. That won't come off unless one of us takes it out for you.”
“Such a naughty girl. If you wanted blood, you just needed to ask,” Rei said to her.
Raising a vampire girl was not going to be easy. I just hope that I prepared enough.
