I owe everyone an update!
It's been a trip. I've been working non stop or I got the vaccine and knocked out. For the last two weeks I didn't have wifi at all, and my data plan is very limited. I mostly rely on my laptop to post. Clearly I need to figure out a new system for the amount of time I haven't had wifi or my data is limited.
I really hoped to explore more of NYC this time around. I shot Evyenia Karpolous at her apartment, but felt too faint to shoot many self portraits. I don't like the ones I did take. I'll probably post some, but they're not great. Therefore here are the photos I took of them at their apartment. It's a beautiful space in Brooklyn, in a cool area. The first day there, I found a cafe with internet and had a drink that was basically hot rice pudding. It was great. Until I had to use the bathroom. There are rarely bathrooms in New York city, I've learned! Makes it hard to go anywhere. Some are closed for COVID, but many places simply don't have a public bathroom. Maybe this is why people joke NYC smells like pee in the streets. It didn't smell that way to me, but I definitely had to find an alley to pee in. It was awkward.
I got to glimpse China Town and Manhattan. So impressive! Straight from the TV shows. It's beautiful and daunting. Brooklyn is so much more friendly, although unlike anywhere I could describe, except Europe.
I liked walking everywhere, the diversity of people and languages, and the parks. The trees are flowering all over the east coast! I'd see it running between shoots. The flowers are so thrilling. I wonder why they are so beautiful, especially when some of them smell overwhelmingly like dead fish!
A part of me would love to live in NYC. I really consider it. To see so many things and have so many advenures! To experience something so new and different, like flights of stairs! lol! We don't have a lot of stairs in Georgia, I think. Many houses are ranch style: spread out over a single story.
I regret not getting to do so many things in NYC. I mourn getting the vaccine in some ways because it knocked me out so hard. That or my period, or both as a combined effort. I shouldn't. I'm better and stronger now. So much less of a risk to those around me! I will just have to be back and NYC will be there!
