I spent three days straight working on my website to get it running. I did it. It isn't perfect, yet, but I'm excited to have most of the work done. The rest is all the improvements I've wanted to make. I spent the holiday and today relaxing. I got rather tired of looking at a computer screen. I enjoyed an Easter dinner with my boyfriend, and then started sewing. As I was stitching is occured to me why sewing isn't my passion, nor is photography. They're hobbies, but I wouldn't make either a career. They're means to an end for me. I cut corners and I don't worry about imperfections. I do them to create something else I wanted. I process of figuring out the camera settings or sewing the fabric through the machine feels tedious, when really all I want to do is get to the modeling part already. I wouldn't hire a person like me to sew, but I might to model. The amount of patience and work I can put nto one versus the other tells me why I model instead of do photography. I can get absorbed in one and have a short attention span for the other.
The driving force behind modeling becoming my career was the effort I put in it over other things. I prioritized photoshoots and my excitement to shoot encouraged me to reach out and shoot more. Eventually it made itself a job.
A lot of people have asked me about getting into modeling for some extra money, and that's tough. I think in certain cities there may always be a demand (like San Francisco). Maybe then it's easy to pick up a job here and there. I'm not good at advising people on how to model part time for work because I've never done it before. I had times where I modeled and sometimes made money. I didn't think about the money until I needed a job then fell back on modeling. The money I made when I began modeling I used to model more, as in pay for gas or trips away to shoot. The extra went in my savings. It wasn't a lot, but enough to pay for more modeling. I could shoot around my school schedule. If people aren't looking to make a lot of money but cash here and there that may be doable. Something I may think about more to write advice to others. To make a part time or full time job from modeling came with the same hours a week as any other job though.
