Pick One: G1 (FAL) vs G3 (H&K) w/ John Keene (Ad-free)
Added 2025-08-02 12:00:03 +0000 UTCIf you had to pick one, would you take a G1 (FAL) or a G3 (H&K)? Both are 7.62mm NATO rifles adopted by Germany. The G1 has more features and capabilities, like the carry handle, bipod, multiple muzzle devices, and adjustable gas system. The G3, on the other hand, is simpler, without things to change for better or worse. So which would you take?

g1 ! I give the g3 credits cause the fal is just that bit longer. controls battery of arms though fal.

2025-08-04 08:25:47 +0000 UTCThe soldiers pick can go either way, but lets face it, they are both big dumb pikes in a stupid caliber. But for *Big Army* I don't think it's a competition. G3 is much cheaper to make with the techniques of the day, less to go wrong and easier to mount an optic to. It's also quite accurate for what it is. I think if the G3 would have been around when the FAL won most of its contracts instead of taking a beach holiday in Spain (and without the "German stink" during postwar years) it would have cleaned up NATO trials left and right. Maybe some big customer would have even specced a bolt hold-open...
